This is what happens when you're not pushing any actual upgrades through generations. For the last 5 years, the inanse amount of Lens flare, bloom, unnatural hue, making photos warmer and greenish, over sharpening, noise and at night or in low light scenario the overexposure of the sky or direct light in the background ruined so many of my photos. When I point these out, my friends tells me I am nitpicking and apple offers the best. They aren't even aware how good androids are offering these days. They often consider the over sharpening as higher res and capturing more details. Currently on 15 Pro Max. I have also faced not focusing issues as Jerimaine mentioned and blurry selfies but these were very rare. Androids are only lagging in software these days not even utilizing the best of its hardware. Apple now I think have fallen behind both in hardware and software in camera. If they continue like this the android midrange segment gonna take over the camera next year.

that's the thing till a degree if you seperate it from any other offerings around this price, heck even lower, then sure you can make an argument for it being decent, but the moment you compare it to the likes of the Xiaomi or vivo which will come, it just shows how much they are lacking!

The Xiaomi shots have so much life to them, such depth and pleasing color balance. Also the details are so natural, our eyes can immediately tell when something is unnaturally sharp, especially when you have photos with straight lines, on the iPhone they look jagged and hurts the eye. I am a photographer and I usually like to see some highlights in my photos, especially from windows, it's how professional cameras capture photos and how our eyes see things, the HDR effect is the problem of smartphones these days, highlights should still be highlights and shawows should still be shadows, otherwise everything becomes a flat, bland mess

A lot of your comments were related to the "style" of the image. The iPhone is obviously pumping out images that will please the majority of people who whereas's the Xiaomi is doing less editing which gives a more realistic look. That being said, the iPhone 16's have the new photographic style settings so if you like your photos to be less vibrant and more contrasty then you can tweak it to look like that. Might be worth giving it a go since a lot of your comments were about style and not necessarily the quality of the image. The Xiaomi does have that big 1" sensor though so it's hard to beat. I used to have a Xiaomi 11 Ultra and the camera was pretty great. Very inconsistent but when it did get a good shot, it was fantastic. I ended up switching back to iPhone because I prefer iOS but I still appreciate Xiaomi's cameras.

Is going with xioami 14 ultra or vivo x100 pro better than going with the likes of a sony rx100 vii or any compact camera? Xiaomi 14 ultra a bit soft for stills but very natural. Like a 1inch camera with a basic kit lens. Video quality is good. LOG video is game changer. Photography kit is game changer. Vivo x100 pro a lot of HDR but good telezoom. Rx100 VII, I don't remember. But check the time to be operational when switching on.

Very good comparison. If you pixel peep there is no comparison, Xiaomei has a much larger sensor and so there are more details and micro contrast. It would be interesting to see a comparison between the forthcoming SamsungS25 flagship and Xiaomei 15 ultra. The price gap is much smaller. They are both Android and so it would appeal to a bigger group of prospective buyers. Thanks for taking the time to make the comparison, most other youtubers would just make anecdotal comments

Sensor synamic range is different from post-processed HDR. You can clearly see that xiaomi is almost always better but: unfortunately with all these smartphone computational photography, is almost impossible to compare the sensor dynamic range and to understand which is better...almost every problem is given by the intesive post processing done ok the photos. Comparison should be Done in pro mode, or even better raw to raw.

I think for me when it comes to the night shots i can deal with the softening on the xiaomi with just using a different filter, or presets in lightroom. Sure it wont make it sharper, but it'll give the shot more character. Those sky artifacts on the iphone are deal breaking if i were an avid night shot taker. The almost 4 year old lg v60 doesn't even do that. I akso find on the 14 ultra that if you adjust the aperture it can deal with rainbow lens flares really well. Stopping it down to f 2 or f 2.8 has helped with that a good deal.

Hi! I don't know if I made the right decision, but my feeling is very strong, I changed my xperia 1 VI to Xiaomi 14 ultra, my xiaomi should arrive on October 1st. I really like the xperia, but unfortunately the camera of the xperia 1 VI is just not as high quality as I need, the color gamut is wonderful, real and natural, but the photos and videos can only be better in sunlight, at other times the quality of the xperia camera is quite bad and I'm very sorry. And I just decided today that I will change xperia to xiaomi, it's the best phone I can get from my phone carrier, there are no other good phones to choose, I don't want google pixel and galaxy s24 ultra camera is very low quality. So you don't have to compare xperia 1 VI and iphone anymore because of me. Thank you for this video, very good camera comparison.

Any smartphone will do poorly in low light due to the physical size of the tiny sensor. Photos will always be overpocessed or sharpened, some more other less. While the Xiaomi does take great pics, so too can the Xperia plus it can record 4k 120fps in all lenses. The macro mode in the Xperia is also phenomenal. I would not swap my Xperia with any Chinese brand or western for that matter.

mmmm it depends, so I will say the Xiaomi is more of that characther feel from the get go, very little editing needed to give that characther. Sony is more natural though! That being said, sony MUST work on their telephoto, it's poor and leaves a lot to be desired! I think you will like the Xiaomi 14 Ultra a lot, but of course it does really depends on the feel and style you like. And yeah don't go the way of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, that's a yikes.

And I also like xperia 1 VI externally, I like its beauty, natural camera and some photos come out very well, but even when I set the camera, for some reason I can't get high quality pictures, too much noise, etc. But I got very good macro shots. The battery is also good, but the screen is not as high-quality as it could be in 2024.

Great video! Would you ever consider doing like a quick short comparison between the Xiaomi 11 Ultra and the iPhone 16 Pro? They have pretty much the same 3 camera setup and I'm generally curious who would win! If not, still a great video. Greatly explained and it just shows how Apple is lacking in processing. It's just the "normie" phone when it comes to most stuff, which is probably why it renders everything flat.

Jermaine it was too long for me. I skipped ahead. 15 - 20 min is about all I can handle. But it was super thorough for those who are interested to go that deep. Apple have some work to do by the looks of it. Conversely those Leica made lenses really work very well!

In night shots with lamps try to use the physical aperture shutter and raise it to 3 or 4. Should give light a star shape which is nice.

I also noticed Adobe hasn't released a profile for the 16 yet and had issues in Lightroom raw camera in regards to exposure, not sure if you tested that out, I just didn't want to shoot in apple's ultra processed RAWS. I will do a full comparison of raw types in my next video 👍

Before doing a test, you should learn how to use the iPhone, when you shoot there is a setting to adjust the contrast and the balance between warm and cold!!! you will see it is useful

@@MrFriscou auto vs auto, you can adjust a shit ton of settings on all phones, but then it is anything but auto vs auto. And big parts are simply PROBLEMS that have nothing to do with even adjusting it related to the ultra wide

I find it interesting that the selfie camera on the Xiaomi has a sensor thats almost as big as the iPhone's telephoto sensor.

It's bizzare. The iPhone has improved a lot in terms of dynamic range and low light but its overall look of how it takes its photos has more or less remained unchanged from iPhone 11. There hasn't been any big changes in the look since they introduced "deep fusion" in to there phones - that and this trend of sharpening.

i aready sell my 14 ultra with kit and replaced it with Oppo find N3, but i buy back a 14 Ultra i missed its quality shots specially it zoom, btw im not using its portrait hehe im not contented, zoom shot on 14 ultra is better that its portrait shot producing much better depth and creamier bokeh that its failed bokeh

I don’t really use a phone to shoot professional photography; that’s what a mirrorless camera is for me, so I can make do with the iPhone 16 Pro. Besides, I think the video stuff is fantastic, and that’s what I really use it for. As for 8K, I think it's a pretty niche market because not enough monitors support 8K, and it is the not industry standard yet. At the same time, I'm happy to hear Apple has competition, and the Xiaomi 14 Ultra seems like a great alternative to an iPhone.

It's wacky. You seem to get bad shot after bad shot with the 16 Pro Max but when I look at DXO Mark and other reviews of the 16 Pro Max, the images are way better. Dunno what is going on here.

Dxo mark i seriously never look at, they rated i think the oneplus 7 ones the highest when it clearly wasn't and some other questionable points

And the bad shots are mainly with the ultra wide, main is ok, just no soul for me, but that is preference, and to get the image nice in daytime i need to tirn down the brightness a good chunk
