I don’t see Apple releasing cameras in such a orientation. That camera position might be beneficial for instagram format, but not for VisionPro. VisionPro requires images and videos be in landscape mode for spatial video, which in return requires the cameras be oriented vertically. Unless VisionPro is not in their future vision, that camera orientation won’t happen on future iPhones!

I wouldn’t doubt it. The titanium frame being too rigid is causing nightmares for the durability of the back glass. Also with the titanium frame back glass repair dipped from like $500 to $200 so that may be a driving factor too.

Why? It’s so much better than the notch, especially with my hands on experience. My biggest regret of getting an iPhone 14 is not waiting for the 15. The Dynamic Island, rounded corners, and matte black are all amazing. It’s actually functional, whereas the notch just sits there.

Your thoughts please on why the change to horizontally spaced lenses on the 17. My guess is that the extended spacing between the far left and far right lenses should enhance the taking of Spacial videos for their 3 D effect. Of course that would require the middle lens to not be in play. OK, I see what is happening. Spatial 3D videos on the 17 will have to be taken with the phone in vertical rather than landscape mode. Not sure if that is really an enhancement but I can see the reasoning. As it is spacial videos are blurred on the far left and far right so with a vertical capture that will go away. Then too the 3D effect itself should be enhanced since the distance between the right and left lenses will be further separated than now when the iPhone 15 pro max with its almost side by side lenses is held in landscape mode for spatial recording.

The secret for the mini/plus whatever model, lies in the pricing. It’s probably very close to the Pro series in some countries. Here in India, It’s very popular. The pro max starts exactly at twice of what the plus costs. So the difference between the base models and the pro models is a lot.

I am using it to work doing light stuff for my job, outlook, one drive, Ms teams, safari and it lasts max 8-9 hours on low power mode. I am not so sure about the legitimacy of the new camera array. I have an 11 with low battery health so i’m not waiting over a year for the 17 lol i’ll get the 16 pro and probably wait until iphone 20 lol. i’d say get the 16

A horizontal camera arrangement would (presumably) take better Spatial Video too. The camera's "eyes" being further apart would better mimic actual human eyes.

Cant see a phone at 5mm thin. It works for ipads because they can spread out components horizontally rather than vertically. A phone has far smaller limits and thus vertical is the only real space. Going down to 6.5 from 7.8 seems like a possibility. But ipad levels of thin are practically 0 chance unless tech drastically changes in a yr.

The prices of phones are getting out of hand. It’s crazy to think you can buy a phone for $1400 but buy a 85” tv for $1000.
