You might have issues accessing the internet on iOS 6 devices due to a certificate that just expired at the beginning of October 2021. This can also affect accessing Cydia sources. To fix it, just go to the following link and install the ISRG Root X1 CA Certificate. cydia.invoxiplaygames.uk/certificates/ Just click on it and then install. You need to remove any Safari Download Manager packages before doing this or it won't work!!! Devices running iOS 5-10 can be affected by this. I personally don't have any issues on my device, but there's a chance you will. Only certain repos should be affected by this, including IPGs Repository, who is the same person who provides the updated certificate that will actually load on old browsers. It should also only affect HTTPS repos, which Cydia doesn't even seem to automatically try to use when adding a new source, so I doubt many people will have this problem. Still, if you do, there's your fix.

Win 10 64bit user here. Had no issues with this jailbreak. The only thing i needed to do was as someone earlier mentioned, delete the current iphone drivers. after that, set compatibility mode to Win 7, ran as admin and good to go! I had to hard reset my phone 2 times, but other than that, all worked as intended. Did need to install the cert you mentioned in your pinned comment. launched Cydia to run its updates. Just did this on 9/9/2024 using a standard Windows 11 23H2 install. Disabling antivirus specifically the real time protection in the windows defender is the best way to have it work more reliably. I got it to work nearly perfect with the Windows Xp Service Pack 2 compatibility mode, and most of the issues actually happened with installing iTunes. Also, USB 3 ports seem not to like these older devices so using a ?USB 2 port seems the best way to go. Thanks for your clear concise tutorial on this!

Worked nearly flawlessy on Windows 10 first try. Only thing I had to make sure to do was to delete the old iphone drivers after I installed itunes so that when I plugged the phone in it downloaded the old ones from itunes.

Done successfully with an iPod Touch 4 on a Windows 10 slate laptop after hours of banging my head against a wall, not even achieving the first plug-in save for one false hope at the beginning. First I'd tried following the instructions to the letter to no effect. Eventually, I started doing random shit. My final few moves were to uninstall everything, install 11.2 iTunes, launch p0sixspwn, uninstall all of 11.2 iTunes, install latest iTunes (doing this caused p0sixspwn to detect something plugged in as iTunes installed, but p0sixspwn stuck at reboot with the iPod not rebooting), exit p0sixpwn (in shame), uninstall everything except for Bonjour and Software Updater, and lastly install 11.1.5 iTunes. Then, p0sixspwn was launched again and I replugged the iPod and it literally went off without a hitch. Zero. I know this hell well and I am triumphant. God help all you who venture down here in desperation.

i just used this tutorial and it worked flawlessly on windows 11 with the install of this version if itunes (without uninstalling the original one) it pops up and says some player file is from a newer version of itunes when the jailbreak starts but if you just dont close it it should be fine i also didnt have to put any programs in compatability mode

You won’t be able to load modern sites really because it’s an old browser. To update the one that I know of, the link is cydia.invoxiplaygames.uk/certificates Self explanatory from there. Main use is so that Cydia repos all work.

The short answer is no, you can’t. The long answer is yes*. Basically, you can’t install any apps that were never able to run on your iOS version/device BUT you can run some that say “App is incompatible with this iPhone/iPad/iPod. Basically, if the app developer removed support for old devices, the old versions of the apps that were compatible now say they aren’t. There’s a tweak that will get around this called “Checkmate Store” that’s on repo.invoxiplaygames.uk. You still won’t be able to run any apps that were never compatible though. I also tryed with an Windows XP Laptop thas was connectet to the internet. Still error 03 at the Magic screen. I jailbreaked my iPhone once with redsn0w but then I made an update and its just crashed and Cydia was not working anymore (this was 2 years ago and I dont have that windows 7 laptop anymore). I flashed it with 3utools and its now like new. My iPhone is not acctivated beccausse i have no sim card for it, and when I jailbreaked it the first time it dont needed an sim acctivation. Well that’s a new one. Something must be amiss with the iTunes installation. All I can recommend is to start over with iTunes. Uninstall all Apple software and reinstall again. If that doesn’t work, try a different computer if possible. Hope this helps.

I think you need to restore in iTunes and re-jailbreak. There’s probably some way to restore Cydia in MobileTerminal, or some file you could delete in iFile to get it working again but that’s just a bit out of my skill range I’m afraid.

I’m not sure why that’s happening. Try some different versions of iTunes and see if any work. Pretty much anything from iTunes 9-12.0.x should work if I remember correctly. Some version of 12.1 broke the tool. I use 11.2. You can get all of these from ipsw.me

If it doesn’t work on windows 11 or 10, I do have an old Dell Inspiron 9 from the 2000’s that is running net framework version 3 and windows XP… Home edition? Maybe it’s something else but would it still work? It has about 300 - 400 megabytes of space left in the hard drive but I could delete stuff to get it to work.

When you uninstall iTunes, you also need to uninstall all other Apple software, like the Mobile Device Support, etc. If you have been doing that then I’m not exactly sure what the problem is.

Hm. My p0sixspwn won’t detect the phone and my iTunes shows an error. Saying “The file i Tunes Library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes” don’t know if the iTunes matter but p0sixspwn just won’t detect the phone.

You also need to uninstall the apple mobile drivers as well. If you have done that, not sure what to say. Stuff can just be picky sometimes, try all the usual troubleshooting.

the issue on my end I wanted to use IOS 6 on my 3gs because there was a bit more app support on it. it came with iOS 4.1 with jailbreak I had to reset the device because it was saying no Wi-Fi, and it refuse to look for a network. I got stuck at the apple logo, then restored it using iTunes, installed iOS 6 on it but the issue. Now I can't get past the activation screen on the setup, so I'm hoping I could jailbreak it and activate it so I could use it. I've been following the tutorial it's just stuck at (waiting for your device to reboot) but nothing happen

Looks like the WiFi IC is fried on your 3GS unfortunately. Jailbreaking won’t help with that. Hack activating might get you past setup but your limited in what you can do after that. Also not sure how to do that as I’ve never needed to.

I had the same issue, I got an iPhone 4 and restored it in iTunes, but since it had no SIM card I couldn’t activate it. (Locked to AT&T). I had to go to eBay and buy an old micro SIM card. That’s the only way I know of on iOS 7, sorry :(

Try every USB port you have on your computer, make sure you're running p0sixspwn as an administrator and also try a different 30-pin cable if you have one. Otherwise, the only thing I can tell you is to try a different computer if you have one. What OS are you using?

what is the use of this cydia apps how can i set this to install incompatible apps on my ipod touch 4th generation? by the way thank you for this tutorial its my first time jailbraking an ipod touch 4th generation and its works!

You can’t run apps that aren’t compatible, it just won’t work. Some may say they won’t work but actually have an older version that will, you can bypass those errors specifically using a tweak called “checkmate store”. It’s on the repo cydia.invoxiplaygames.uk.

Try uninstalling iTunes, the Apple mobile device drivers, mobile device support, bonjour, and then reinstall iTunes. If that doesn’t work try a different computer if possible.

I havent used an iPhone in years, last time I jailbroke something was probably in 2010 and that was an iPod touch and back then you had to put it in DFU mode. I was asking because when I plug my 3gs into my PC it doesnt appear in itunes although does appear as a portable device on my PC @@3lectr1c

@@3lectr1c eventually i got it. the jailbreak worked first try on my windows 7 home premium sp1 laptop. i didn't even get your reboot problem, which is good because the sleep button on my 3gs is completely broken ;-; although i do beg this, how to sideload without karens repo? it's not on cydia and importing it doesn't work either.

If iTunes doesn’t see it, you’ve got either a connection issue or the phone itself is damaged. Try a different cable, port or computer if possible.

No problem! The issue on your first computer could have been because of the wrong mobile device driver version as well, if you’re downgrading iTunes you have to uninstall that as well.

I've installed the version of iTunes in the description, however the jailbreak took gives me an error saying I need iTunes 9 or above

Did you uninstall all previous Apple software you had on your computer, mainly the Apple Mobile Device drivers? If not, that’s your issue. Otherwise I’m not sure.

@@user-gk1mp1zk7n Hmm... Try uninstalling iTunes (again, I know, but this tool can be tricky to get working), uninstall any other Apple software on your computer, and try iTunes 11.0.2 (ipsw.me/iTunes), see if that works.

@@user-gk1mp1zk7n just general p0sixspwn unreliability. I’ve had this problem, only way I remember fixing it was to switch to a different computer. Make sure the device has no passcode set.

It should if you can get an old enough version of iTunes running. You’ll need at least as old as Mavericks but iTunes can’t be updated.

Hmm. I would try a different computer if you have one. Make sure you uninstall ALL Apple software, not just iTunes before you install the old version.
