Jerry it is a 'GREAT' tutorial, I strongly recommend you to continue with the same kind of format (clear & close-up camera work, arrows and walk through comments making it so easy to understand). However the ONLY reason I couldn't give you a 'BRILLIANT' instead is - soon after you used your fingers in place of tweezers. That is my only criticism (constructive) of the tutorial. Keep em going. FANTASTIC.

I followed the video and it took me several hours because of the small screws and the backing up the video was cumbersome to put it back together. I originally needed the power button to be fixed, replaced the battery and also changed the home button cable. Everything but the volume keys are working. The keys move and spring but they don't make the volume go up or down. There are also vertical bars at the top of the screen that become less when you turn down the brightness. I'd really like the volume keys to work. Any suggestions? Going back in for the 4th time is a possible but only if you really have a good suggestion otherwise my daughter can adjust volume on the swipe screen. Thanks for the video!!

Apple has a free replacement program for the power/sleep/wake button. Either bot working or intermittent operation. Free replacement on phones manufactured after march 2013. Check the apple website and enter serial number and they will tell you right away if it qualifies or not

Thanks for the vid very helpful. It took me around 2 hours to do this, but got there in the end. I would recommend numbering each screw on a sketch and also trying each switch for operation during reassembly. A couple of things for those attempting this, the wifi antenna does not need to be removed. Secondly the pegs on the new mute switch need to be melted with a soldering iron to fix permanently to the original bracket. Thanks again for vid, it would be really helpful if you could edit the video and do a voice over for reassembly.

Fantastic video, thank you! It all worked pretty well, although it took me a good and patient three hours. Most parts were glued down pretty solidly. In the re-assembly I forgot that one of the cables of this cable attaches to the TOP of the motherboard, not both underneath. I kept re-assembling until one of the screws didn't quite fit, which is when I figured out I had to trace back again and pull that part out from under the freshly placed motherboard. So watch out for that (or be smarter than me ;-)). Also, the wifi connector was pretty tricky to reconnect. But really grateful for all this guidance and advice, thanks!

I followed the video, and it is very detailed. For reassembly, simply back up a little at a time and put it back together in reverse order. I strongly suggest that you watch it all the way through at least once. I was pausing the video, and when I got to the part about the power button bracket, I paused it before he said that you just pull the cable out behind it. I actually removed the bracket, and it was a pain to get 'right' again. By the way, some of the tool kits put a couple of plastic 'dimpled' boards in with the tools, which gives you places to put the screws as they come out. I wouldn't go by the 'six minutes' in the title. Maybe someone who has done this a number of times could, but I spent about 90 minutes, including my mishap with the power button. The mute switch was a nuisance as well. I had to use a needle to core out where the old bits of the cable were pressed in.
@JerryRigEverything10 жыл бұрын
Thomas Brown Oh for sure. I doubt even I could do the repair in 6 minutes. The '6 minutes' part of the title only apply to how long the video is and how long it takes to teach the process. Im glad it worked out for you though!

Great video for what i need to do for my iPhone 5. My volume and power buttons aren't responsive they just feel springy. So i assume i need to replace the flex cable but would i also need new buttons?
@garrettmarvel10 жыл бұрын
installation is WAY harder than removal... plus the mute switch is attached (sonic weld?) to the bracket. once you remove it, you're screwed for relable reattachment and install.
@Doesyou9 жыл бұрын
Also be careful of cheap volume flex cables, I got one about a month or two ago and when I installed it in my phone, the volume buttons (internal) were not sticking properly to the bracket.. I could not click them properly and as a result ended up getting a new OEM cable recently and plan to replace it when my vibrator also arrives since I dropped my phone and it sounds weird now.

Thank you, very nice video, question. How much is actually needed to be removed if i just want to change the power button itself. Bought a used one and they did a lowsy job fixing the button. It works, but only half of the button it seems hah. Also, vibrator is extremely weak, could it just be the motor? Thank you so much!
@JerryRigEverything10 жыл бұрын
Michael Mokler I have not swapped out the actual power button itself before, so i am not totally sure on that. BUT with your vibrator, it could be the motor, or just a bad connection with with the power. Make sure the little pads it sits on are clean.

Its got a flat plate covering it all. I figured its probably snapped in, shouldn't be a problem. however, after trying to get it out for an hour I gave up. does any one have any ideas on how to go about getting the plate out ? I would really appreciate your help. Thanks.

My power button wasn't working when I got it (yes, used, everything else works fine though,yes ebay),- so just wondering, - given the area around power button looks fairly solid, what could be wrong with it, whats likely to 'break' about that area/switch ? I know this phone has a high power buttom failure rate, but why , and is apple likely to fix it free given that , or forget it ,and deal>

good video! one question: Is that true that a bad power/lock volume cause reboots and percentage battery ? please my iphone 5 reboots every time and some times battery percentage doesn't change.
@JerryRigEverything10 жыл бұрын
Unless your button physically does not function, I doubt it is causing any reboots. Usually thats a software glitch. You can always try a new battery though. That might fix the percentage issue.
