On the iPhone drum recordings it definitely has more of a slight sampled electronic feel I think because of the mid range boost in the frequency response and the compression that apple uses. I could definitely see it being used in parallel with studio mics

As a (mostly) layman when it comes to audio production stuff I could see iPhone recordings for most of the drum kit. I feel like the drums hit a bit harder after mixing, but are less clear - especially the highs sound very noisy - cymbals sound like a mess. Maybe a mix of studio mics and iPhone could make for a unique sound there? As for guitars/bass I definitely prefer the sound of the studio mics.
