I actually got an 8 recently because it's waaaay cheaper than the SE here in Brazil, and while I do feel bad for not getting the most recent features (processor, camera, dual SIM), I am very glad that they released it because I know iOS won't be updated just for newly designed devices (X and up). Also, I feel like 3D touch is meaningless even on the 8. Most apps don't use it, and even the ones that do allow you to just hold. It's like the hardware is there, but Apple disabled the feature (aside from 3D pressing the left edge of the screen to change apps).

@Halo9K4 жыл бұрын
I saw a comparison and the 8 didn't fair as poorly as I would've thought. It actually held its own. The SE wins on being more future proof and camera improvements. The A13 is a beast compared to the A11 though the A11 was pretty powerful in its own right. On the plus side, every case you have will fit the SE. Keep your 8 if you get the SE (if you can) and use the 8 as an iPod. Turn off the cellular button and just use it on Wi-Fi. That's what I did with my Xs. Use the 8 to play games check email and save your SE for phone usage. You'll find the battery lasts much longer as you use it as it was intended, as a phone.

Everybody is saying this iPhone is going to destroy the midrange Android market, but frankly, I doubt it, this is because people choose Android over iOS for a reason, whether that be customization, upgradeable storage, etc. Not everyone will switch over to iOS just for a powerful processor. Furthermore, the screen on the iPhone SE is ridiculous, 720p is going to turn off a lot of Android converts. Also, 5 years of iOS updates is generous, but who will still be using this iPhone 5 years from now? A 3 year software update is more than likely to be all you need, which can be found on the upcoming Pixel 4a. On top of that, the Pixel 4a will probably beat the iPhone SE on screen resolution, battery, camera, and having a head phone jack, all important at this price range, not to mention the larger screen. And finally, as opposed to the iPhone the Pixel 4a might see price drops, especially around Black Friday, bringing it down to $250, which would make it an ultimate deal. Taken at a whole, I think the Pixel 4a is a better deal if found on sale, and that isn’t even mentioning the vastly superior Google Assistant, Night Mode, optical stabilization, etc.
@ayaamr18484 жыл бұрын
Abstract Gaming maybe the pixel is a better deal , however the problem is that for example , in my country google pixel phones are nonexistant . I have never seen anyone holding a pixel phone in my life . It will be impossible to find accesories for pixel phones or find someone to repair it . So even if the pixel is a better deal , the iphone is gonna sell more . Google needs to improve their marketing for the pixels to be able to compete against other phone manufacturers

This situation isn't as black&white as you're stating. Yes, cheaper Android phones have FHD screens, but they are usually of lower quality. Then talking about customisation, yes, it's great to have that option, but not everyone bothers with it anyway. The upcoming Pixel 4a will probably have the killer night sight, and other camera tricks, but it will have a slower processor, and extended dynamic range for videos is highly doubtful. Then again, no one wants to use an affordable Android phone for more than a year because they really get worse over time..and software support is crappy...some phones never even get a full year of Android updates...plus, not all people want to keep changing their phones every 1-2 years...if the phone's running fine...and handles all apps and games well, why go and waste money on something new for no reason?? It totally depends on what your priorities are.
@abstractgaming83414 жыл бұрын
Achyut Arjun, The Pixel 4a will lack a “retina” screen, but it will have OLED and a higher PPI, so I’d say it’s higher quality than the iPhone SE’s screen. Further, customization is a very important option, it being one of the main reasons Android users stick to Android. And while the 4a lacks dynamic range, so does the iPhone, all around, the 4a has a better camera. For updates, Google promises 3 years of updates, which is the average amount of time most people in the U.S use a phone, as for the phone getting slower, it probably won’t get too slow considering the lack of bloatware and Google pushing the updates, and still, Apple has been known to slow down older iPhones, so I doubt that would be a better bet.

I got my IPhone SE since yesterday. For people who are wondering about the battery life, it all depends the way you use it. If you play games, the battery goes down very quickly (that happens with most phones). If you use it when watching videos or using Facebook etc, it might take 3/4 hours if you use it constantly? Yeah, apple said 13 hours but that’s of course not true. Also, it depends on what apps you use and how many notifications are open

What about the battery size, life, and charging speed time.
@Dubadubadu1234 жыл бұрын

@Halo9K4 жыл бұрын
The battery life is fine provided you use it as a phone. The problem is not the size of the battery, The problem is that we have become so attached to our phones that we expect an almost endless power supply. That's one reason driving the increase in size, bigger batteries. However, if you use it the way it was intended when created, the battery will last all day. So, it depends on your use. Due to the low price of the SE, I decided to keep my Xs (Gold 256GB) and use it as an iPod. This is actually a good move. The SE is the right size and certainly powerful for a smallish phone. The Xs has a larger screen and more storage and larger battery that even with 97% battery health lasts much longer without Cellular usage. At home, where we've all been stuck, I use my Xs for email, games, etc. or my iPad Mini 5 saving my SE for use as a phone. Turns out, the battery lasts a very long time. I check on some things like banking and paying bills but mostly for use as a phone. For example today before bedtime I still have 55% battery life. Now, if it is your ONLY device then you might need to top it off during the day at least once. But it's not as bad as many are saying. It would've been nice if Apple had made it a little thicker for a larger battery but it is what it is. As such just pay attention to your usage and have a charger handy for topping off as needed. Like all things we adapt. The power/price ratio makes the SE a worthwhile buy plus it is a very handy size (no pun intended).

I don't begrudge KZbinrs forgetting this, it's hard to focus on the second hand market after all when you are getting expensive new phones given to you for free, but for a lot of people a new phone release means that older flagships are now coming into their price range. The original SE has iOS 13 and looks likely to get iOS 14, I don't think people who purchase an iPhone 8 are really going to have to worry about updates for quite a while yet.

Like your approach to the review and couldn't agree more. My wife and son are using FREE iPhone 8s via AT&T which was an upgrade over the 7. Unfortunately, the SE came too late for them. As for me, the one paying the bills, I upgraded from a Xs and really like the SE. By keeping my expectations realistic, I find I really like the SE much more than I thought I would. What did I do with my Xs? For the first time in my iPhone experience, I find I can keep my Xs. It makes for an excellent iPod with 256GB of storage and a large screen, it still has a very useful life. I can use it or my iPad Mini5 when I just want to check email, watch a video or play a quick game or whatever else I want to do. This allows me to use my SE as a PHONE! Soooo the battery life issue is not an... issue! Amazing how much battery life the SE has when you use it for its intended use. Obviously you are a Star Trek fan. Me too, since 1967!

So we know now that the iPhone SE is a better buy than a used 8 after this, but as someone who just bought the 8 in January, my question is the SE worth the UPGRADE?

What I don't get is why are they still doing huge bezels when $200 phones are already into full face screens?
@avigole4 жыл бұрын
Sadly a USD$399 translates to AUD$749 if a consure pays $459 more they can get the iphone 11 which in my opinion adds a wide angle lens camera 1.4 inch screen real estate and a more modern suitable for 2020 design. Plus more colour options. If the SE drops to AUD$500 which is highly unlikely I would return my iphone 10s go on a sim only plan and trade my ipad 2017 for an ipad pro.

Getting iOS updates for longer doesn't strike me as a big selling point. I used my iPad 3 for years after I could get updates, and when it finally died and I replaced it, I discovered that many of my favorite apps no longer worked. I sort of look forward to when my 10s Max gets off the upgrade hamster wheel.

Current standard feature across all segments of phones i.e., the night mode, is a big miss here.

I'm not an iPhone guy at all, but I bought one of these for my 80 year old grandmother last week and it arrived yesterday, and I reckon it's a bloody awesome phone. But here in Australia they're $750.

A brief history of ownership from a ‘late adopter’Scotsman with an eye for value. First- iPhone 4 Then iPhone SE. This week I took delivery of an iPhone SE 2020. Nice!

Sure it has 5 years of updates, but how long before the battery starts degrading and it becomes unusable?
@MrMannyhw4 жыл бұрын
Of course not. A13 has the longer shelf life. Always buy the best one and amortize it over the number of year you expect to use it. No brainer. SE2 hands down.

Excellent video! Always live your style, it's one of the best out there. Maybe you could do a review on how the iPhone SE can do throughout the day, like if the battery lasts long enough after some photos and some gaming and even watching Mr Mobile!

Just brought my new se few days back, upgrading from 7plus screen size I was bit not sure, but once I got hold of it, I just felt in love with it. And I easily got used to its screen size and I’m much comfortable with it😇

It's one big question. Google or Apple? Please compare to Pixel 3a (we still waiting for 4a unfortunately..). Which phone is better for that price.

I've said it a million times since ive subscribed to @MrMobile. Impecable production value, everything is well thought out and not rushed despite the length of the videos. There's always lots of good info, your opinions as a consumer & industry insider are informative & always entertaining. Thanks 👍

i honestly much prefer the colors of the iphone 8. but there’s no way i could spring for an 8 when the se is so much newer.
