Nice job, looks easy, just 2 screws, and heating gun, suction cups. Question: how much are new screens, iphone xr?? mine is not broken, but....acts very strange, sometimes text itself, like autotext ON??, shaky, different screens go fast back and forth??, sometimes works fine?? It has a note, that cant read battery life well??, about one year old, I was told??, crazy me, bought it from Marketplace, Facebook, obvious fraud, guy sold me broken phone, now does not answer my texts, calls!!! Is it worth to replace a screen?? Does not look like phone was dropped, could be water damage, I guess?? I am not sure what to do, if new screen is a reasonable price, maybe will replace that. Do you think my shakiness, problem would be solved with new screen?? Thanks, youtheman=)
@droppedbenz2114 жыл бұрын
I’d highly suggest not taking any advice from this guy. I had so much anxiety watching him remove screws while holding the phone in his hand. Big no no and a huge red flag. Water damage can cause your screen to text by itself or press buttons you didn’t press. I just bought a new screen on amazon for the XR for $75.
@Eeropolvasti4 жыл бұрын
@@droppedbenz211 OK, thank you! Do you think new screen would fix it, even it is a water damage?? i just ordered one , also new battery, seems like this battery takes forever to charge up???Thank you again =)

Not to be an online prick but don’t yank on the screen like he’s doing to separate it, you can break it , also don’t ever use metal tweezers to pry those little metal clamps that pop in to the logic board, you can screw up the metal prongs underneath or short out the logic board (metal on metal contact when the battery is still connected.) Use a plastic spudge tool to pop them off gently , putting them back in should be done softly and you shouldn’t ever have to force them in, just wiggle them very lightly until it grips and pops back in. As for opening the screen, use multiple thin plastic cards, the Petco keychain ones work great, place one card in and let it stay in one spot, grab a guitar pick or whatever you’re using that you have and put a little bit of the edge in and work your way across the entire phone to loosen it from them housing and brake the adhesive, do not aggressively do this or try put in too much of the card or you can rip the cables. The screen should be put back in carefully and also shouldn’t have to be forced, if it’s aligned it will simply snap back in place.

For people that are beginners or trying to learn how to fix their phone, this video ain’t it.. he doesn’t even replace the screen first off and the way he is handling that phone and using metal tweezers on the connectors is not how it should be done, you run the risk of ESD & you can compromise your device. This is the worst video I’ve seen for the XR He isn’t using anything to prevent against ESD Using metal tools on metal connectors live with the battery still connected is just asking for trouble as well. Hyperextending the cables and simply reckless and unsteady handling makes this a definite no for me. I would not in a million years trust this guy near anything electronic. Aside from those things even if he had repaired it properly he never explained anything no cautionary advice for common mistakes and what to watch for, he never finished the repair either he doesn’t explain anything really. If someone wants to do this they will need to know how to swap the small parts as well and also they need to know that you should use an anti static mat /w/wristband , only use esd safe tools Always disconnect the power supply before changing out hardware, and never open the screen more than 45 degrees when it’s still attached to the logic board. Also the iPhone XR has an LCD Not an OLED
