When I was a child, I used to put my ear to little crank music boxes and just lay down on the floor and cry. It wasn’t out of sadness but I think the music just was so beautiful to me my 4 year old emotions couldn’t handle it. This sound is so similar and although I’m not laying on the floor crying, I did shed a few tears listening to it. It’s very interesting how certain sounds can stimulate our emotions.

I did the same! My sister got a music box every year as one of her b-day presents and we saved them all. The best music box was this sad clown that played Moonlight from Cats. I didn't know what cats was but I thought the song was beautiful, even just on those tinny, metallic notes. I played it over and iver.

i lost my nan only a few months ago, i grew up with her and i considered her my mom. she was a talented pianist, she would give my brothers and i very strict lessons. i regret letting piano go now. i remember one lesson in particular from when i was a child, i found this song and fell in love right away. so i intended to learn it, although of course my skill is much too lacking and i never learned it. my nan knew how to play it just by reading the sheet music, which i printed out for her. she played this song for me. tonight, i cant sleep but i found this video reccomended to me. it helped me release some tears ive been holding back for a while now and i feel as though maybe i could sleep for just a while.

Never thought I would find a classical piece covered by a Kalimba, ITS AWESOME. WHY DIDNT I FIND THIS EARLIER
Oh, this just really lifts my spirit far into the sky. Far beyond the evergreen forests and wide vast land, in the land of tranquillity. The land dwells in the green pastures of dreams, and the forest of stars. And not far from it lies the lavender fields, that never die. There in the hills, the clouds roll by in the light blue sky, all through the day while the stars twinkle at night. A quaint little village in the peaceful land, where nothing bad happens, and no one is mad. The people sell bread in the market at noon, the cobbler makes shoes for me and for you. The dreamer looks into the sky, to discover the wonder that lives so high. The dreamer is me, and hopefully you. He chases his dreams everyday, to hope that they might come true some day. And dream on we must all do, as he does there, and dreams that we do too.

The night flows inside the small room, a crib on the side of it. A small creature, a human, laying inside of it peacefully sleeping. The shadow of the moon saw that little helpless creature from its place and let the wind carry it down to the cold window. Sitting there telling itself it will protect the small flower until the light of the morning dawn chases it away and its parents would take over. The time flew by and the first rays of sun shine behind the buildings. The child's parents, however, weren't to be seen, so instead of leaving its place the shadow kept on watching the child. The sun eventually peeked over the buildings and hit the shadow. It wouldn't move, no matter how much the sun let it fade away. And in the last few moments of the shadows existence it saw the childs parents enter the room and embracing the small creature in their arms, until the shadow vanished completely. Still half burried in her knitted quilt overlooking the wildflowers. "The reaper," the figured said in a sweet melodic voice, "do not fear me for you lived a good life." "I understand," the old woman said, "just let me watch this last sunset." "Very well," the figured said revealing a skull scared with clear emotion. "I must admit, it is particularly beautiful this evening. Perhaps you will paint the sky tomorrow?" "Perhaps," the old woman said with a smile on her face, "perhaps."
