I always advise people to go 15-45 for their first scope as they are much easier to get the knack of using. Ignore those knocking the quality, if it’s right for you and you enjoy using it then it’s OK. I had a Barr and Stroud for many years before buying my Swarovski ATS/65, in fact I still have it in my wife's car. It’s a lot of money for a quality scope, then to find out you don’t enjoy it can be a very expensive try at scoping.
