Sexual attraction is the line that separates platonic and romantic relationships. So anyone out here fronting talking about looks don't matter need to just stop the cap once and for all.
@FlamingVaIIey2 жыл бұрын
I do believe it is the case, however I also think the circumstances for what brings sexual attraction can be more complex. For example, the exes I've kept in contact with as friends I was sexually attracted to at some point, we were great friends before the romantic relationship and that led to sexual attraction also increasing as a factor however when the relationship came to be and time passed I realized our personalities didn't really match well in a romantic relationship and so we agreed to go back to being friends. Since then I haven't been sexually attracted to them. So to me it really speaks loudly that every factor of a person is important when you want a relationship with them, both physical and intelectual attraction. Otherwise if you only act on lust you are basically just responding to your most primal urge to mate and reproduce, not the more elaborate construct of a relationship which we have come to build in our current society.
@bronxishomenomatterwhereig31492 жыл бұрын
@@FlamingVaIIey oh yeah I'm talking just attraction on a primal level. Also are you a man or woman? Because for us men. 9/10 times. Starting off as friends is just putting yourself in the friendzone.
@FlamingVaIIey2 жыл бұрын
@@bronxishomenomatterwhereig3149 I'm a guy, I just don't go about chasing romantic relationships really. I enjoy making friends that are cool to hang around with and if they show interests then I usually reciprocate since I already enjoy their company to begin with. As you said tho physical attraction does play an important part so I am not just gonna reciprocate those feelings every time.
@rationalcynic84162 жыл бұрын
Agreed. An individuals personality and values are two very important aspects of attraction. But I would be lying if I said I wouldn't have to find the person attractive to be romantically involved with them. Sometimes, we may not find someone physically attractive at first, but I have found that our initial perceptions of an individuals physical attractiveness can improve or decline the longer we know them. I was assigned to work on a biology project in high school with the supposed "hottest" guy in school. Needless to say, the guy had the personality of a church waifer and the more I got to know him, the less I found him physically attractive.
@2313rafa2 жыл бұрын
@@rationalcynic8416 fuck yes!! I be telling people this! Personality increases someone's physical attraction, at least to oneself. Small details, like someone's lips, hair, nose structure, smiles, the way they dress, or the way their eyes look in several directions becomes extremely heightened and evolves to attraction. The things that once went unnoticed are now in focus. It's actually a wonderful process!

This is basically the whole premise of catfish. You can fall in love with someone if you think they're attractive, but as soon as you find out they're not. All that connection goes out the window. Which is the interesting thing about these dating sites now where you can filter everyone based on looks then decide later if you like their personality. People need to quit pretending looks and appearance doesn't matter. Now judging someone based on that is fucked up, but for a relationship, it's the foundation

My Congolese mother equally does h4tes any piece of fiction that centers about magical practitioning protagonists, mystical superpowered martial artists and monster slayers as main characters and protaginists to the point we were forbidden to watch and read TV series and films like "Buffy The Monster Slayer" and "Supernatural" (Blade being the only notable exception when you were at age because, well... go figure. You already know. Black superman deleting wh*te Illuminati-like demons + mother's love-h4tred crush on Wesley Snipes) , Dragon Ball, some material from the X-Men and DCAU JL (least, up until she discovered pre-antiBLM Hugh Jackman... 🙄) , Sailor Moon, "The Craft" and so on and forth. Although her censorship againgt SM and DB didn't last long. The only exceptions to the rule were Sakura Cardcaptor, Charmed, any material of fiction from Sabrina the Witch, Harry Potter, LOTR, any Arthurian Legend based piece of fiction (aside from the Australian TV show "Guinevere Jones") , Spiderman, the Fantastic Four and the Witches of Warvely Place because: 1 - the magical protagonists and main characters of SC, Charmed, Sabrina, HP, and LOTR weren't championing sorcery nor choose to become witches or sorcerers: their story arc is fundamentally humanistic and genuine in nature instead of propagandistic (like TV shows and films like "The Craft" has been accused to do folliwing the height of the so-called "Satanic Paranoia" in USA. Of course, Canada sheepily followed, moreso Quebec...) and echoes to principles and virtues that any hunan who aspires to a decent life can relates to, while some of their use of the grey and dark arts are often but harmless pranks or naive attempts from kids and young people to fix things around them, for thereafter being always chasisted by the voice of reason anytime. Sakura was simply foolish and naive enough as a 10-yrs old girl to open a dusty centuries-old grimory book from her father's library and accidentally break free a millennia of her secret supernatural heritage to the entire world to at last use the powers and responsabilities she inherited to fix things back and being a heroic figure. Harry Potter is basically a King Arthur or Christ-like infant martyr who never choose to be a wizard and always fought for what is good. The Haliwell Sisters were borderline edgy much like the overall TV show and its appeal to the tweens and teenage girls, but nevertheless use their magic to fight dark wizards, demons and thugs alongside angels and benevolent beings. LOTR has too many similarities with African mythologies and the Bible and the overall story about an underdog being so kindhearted and insignificant his very existence may save the earth echoes to a lot of modern views. So Gandalf did not really offended my mother although she spoke about him defiantly-- least until I told her that Gandalf, Saruman and the other Istaris were in fact demigods or angels under human disguise, hence their magical powers: she still profoundly hates Galadriel, though (she calls her a "djinni") . Spiderman is a Good Samaritan who happens to have totemic powers and a great scientific knowledge-- neither of those bothers my mother. The Fantastic Four are scientists before to be superpowered beings. Sabrina as well as the main protagonists of Warvely Place have pretty much a lot of common in a sense that they are just kids who happens to be born with abilities, but their use is often but harmless pranks and silly attempts at relying too much on magic to fix things and help people, et cetera ; And 2 - Arthurian legends are the GOATs. Although she had a period of religion-induced, borderline 4ntis3miti€ defiance toward the superhero genre for a while, likely under the influence of her silly WoJ "friends". She attempted to oblige us as grown adults from not watching CW's The Flash, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and X-Men films (again) , back to the mid-2010s, but we just dismissed her wants. She adores Thor movies and has no grudge toward Loki and his wicked acts if magic, but she stopped watching Luke Cage after this Jamaican thug in season 2 blew magical powder on Luke's face. Go figure. 🙄

So they build an interest in emotional/social/intellectual ways through the chats and then physical appearance kills it all. I get it. Not mad either. What’s weird is sometimes you don’t find a personal physically attractive and then as you get to know them, and if you fall for them romantically, then you can develop a sense of physical attraction. It’s kinda wild. Unless someone is downright revolting it may be worth it to give someone a try if you click on other levels. Although, I’ll say it can take years of knowing someone before you feel attracted to them. Honestly, just best if you find someone who ticks both physical and emotional attraction for ya I suppose.
@merr55932 жыл бұрын
Just the comment I was looking for. Thats basic biology, you sit with an unattractive person for a couple dates and if you are capable of appreciating their inner attributes and the mutual chemistry(most modern American women aren’t) then you will find them physically attractive. I disagree that it take years for that. Just a couple of hours of vibing and getting to know each other. I believe if you are unattractive you will have a hard time getting that initial attraction BUT if you work on your self then you can attract ladies with who are as a person. Thats a more egalitarian look at dating and how It should be. But sadly in America,mainly because of dating apps, women are going more and more shallow and the dating market is only benefiting to women and the top 10% men. Sexlessness ratio(men to women) has gone from 2.5 to 4 in the last last decade. This is not good for a society but most people don’t realise how a majority of women having impossible standards affect the society in the wrong run. And? looks matter what you look like matter, what color, what nationality, what sex you are matter... Women are just like you in many ways... The moment you don't realize this is the moment you have failed.
@throwacnt76032 жыл бұрын
Here's the underlying "secret" on what you just said that people don't want to admit: Looks are generally a good way to judge someone's personality before you meet them. Not always, but frequent enough that the brain can make a quick judgement. For example men with higher facial width-to-height ratio (fWHR) tend to be, on average, more aggressive and assertive and risk taking, therefore they are overrepresented as CEOs. Why do you think women pick them? Because their physical features often correlate with personality and their place in the world. It's kinda f'ed up because well, no one picks their appearance and your odds are mostly chosen at birth and early childhood.
