This lecture gives an overview of US-China relations, which have set the tone for how East Asia has conducted its international relations. The US-China relationship has been among the most complex of the post-Cold War adjustments underway. The lecture will examine the basic factors that define the parameters of the adjustments and in this context also examine the roles of Japan, Russia and India. It will also examine the South China Sea issue as a proxy for US-China adjustments.

I would say this has aged pretty well. Importantly, for Singaporeans who wonder or worry whether the PAP is being too pro-China, this is about as obvious an official position as u r gonna get. Unlike shills like Kishore, Bilahari’s grasp of history and geopolitical climate is impressive, and his reasoning is so sound and pragmatic it’s hard to argue, even for someone like me who’s voted opposition for the last 30 years.

He has studied and analysed international relations for several decades. He knows what he's talking about. If you have anything with which to refute him, please bring it up rather than simply accusing him of arrogance.

This guy made fool of himself on the stage. I can't believe he is a so called expert. He has no manner and integrity.

Mr Kausikan has studied and analysed international relations and served Singapore's foreign ministry for several decades with distinction. He knows what he's talking about and won't speak without ample evidence. If you have anything with which to refute him, please bring it up rather than simply accusing him of arrogance.

If, you love your fatherland, China, please stop leaving your Chinese father unloyally. After all, China speaks and uses Mandarin. So, why make things difficult fir yourself and everybody else. Is China that lousy that makes you leave your father for a better adopted father who is totally culturally and linguistically different. The unit currency is different too. Look down despise on your RMB. A world of grossly confused Chinese just like 'a fish out of water'. Think! and stop leaving China for heaven's sake.
