IQ Designer and Scanning

Thank-you for your videos. I especially like them because they are less than 15 minutes. I have a hard time listening to 45 minute videos. Even though your video, at this time, is 3 years ago, it is still very helpful even though I have a Luminaire 3.

Watching this one again, and had some questions… I can see how/why to use the line design choice when scanning an image like this… when would you use the “image scan” or “illustration design” options? I’m asking because someday, when I know more about all of this, I’d love to be able to scan a photo of our family cabin and try to embroider it, if that is possible. Will you do any videos on using the image scan and/or illustration design options?

The machine cannot scan and stitch out an actual photo. It’s relegated to simpler things like line drawings. There are programs, however, that allow you to create with photographs but it’s been quite some time since I’ve used one so I wouldn’t feel comfortable recommending one to you. I’m sure someday we’ll be able to scan or send a photo to the machines!

@@melindabigleysewblessed Ok. That’s what I thought. So, to ask another question, what then, is the difference between the choices of “line design”, “image scan” and “illustration design”? When and why would I use one verses the other? I guess I don’t really understand…

I have a video for the Altair scanning which is identical to the Meridian. I don’t own a Meridian, but the system is exactly the same for you.

I would love to see it stitched out. I can't figure out how to make the lines like a pencil, it wants to zigzag on the outline

Go into line properties and click on single stitch. Then click your paint bucket and click on the line you’re trying to change.

I want to scan a photo and see if it will digitize and sew out. I tried it once before, and it didn't work. Have you tried this?

Can you import into IQ Designer children's artwork that is in color? I have Meridian 2.

You can scan line drawing and basic art work at this point. Try doing a few test scans and see what happens and what you like or don’t like about it.
