Prusa: Fix LCD screen

I'd love to get my hands on a broken display like this! The reason being I've got that crazy idea about modding the backlight in my head (basically changing the colour). I assume the LCD is backlit by LEDs but I'd like to explore on a damaged unit how integrated the backlight actually is, rather than potentially mess up a perfectly good one. I even checked the online classified ads for broken printers but have come up empty so far.

Same happened to me, and I fixed it with another electric discharge on purpose, now working. Looks that lcd has no or loose gnd ?

Hot end kerfuffles have been my foe for the most part (knock on wood) haha I also feel your pain when not having a printer and cleaning up a house to sell!! both stressful. Had to remove my screen protector to get the feels lol.

Yeah not in the new house yet. Just in a new room in the current house. ;) But new house and new office is coming it will start out bare but then I will get to add back in all my doodads and especially my whiteboard ;)

I had the same problem due to an electrostatic discharge. I sent a photo of the screen to Prusa and they sent me a new display for free...

Wow! Prusa does a good job on their printer and taking care of their customers. Support matters

@@iqless Just saying, I think it's best to work through their support department if you have the time and haven't done anything too stupid. You'll often get the fix for free.

Neat! We had quite a few prints aborted during colour changes thanks to static discharges but fortunately no damage to any of the printers yet! Some days were so bad I actually considered wearing an anti-ESD wristband anytime I touched the printers!

Yeah, a bit of life had to be done. Chances are I won't do a lot of videos in the next few months, as we will be moving. But I have a lot of cool video ideas queued up. Too many cool things I want to 3D print :)

Yes I have. There are two thermistors one that measures bed temp and one that measures nozzle temp. I have had to replace both at different points.
