IR Flashlight Review

We review three IR (infra Red) Flashlights and one Weapon Mounted IR Laser to compare their effectiveness on distant objects. We used a PVS-14 Night vision device and a Digital Camera for filming this test.
There was no moon on a clear night in the mountains above Tucson at 4500 feet and 38 degrees
We tested;
a Surefire M1 Infrared Illuminator
and a High Powered 3W InfraRed IR Drop-in Module inside a Surefire G3 that cost under $20
and a 12-LED IR InfraRed Flashlight that cost under $10
and a Laser Devices DBAL A2 IR Laser / Illuminator / Visible Laser

No overheating problems yet, but it's cooler at night and we don't use them for extended periods of time Sure the light gives away or position? But we can see further than they can in the dark.. or at least thats the idea

Awesome demo, very cool. Doesn't the faint glow of the 3W drop-in give away your position? Also have you had any overheating issues with it? Still pretty impressive for what it is. Wait till the SureFire V2 Vampire comes out, the low is the same as your M1 but high setting is like 7 times brighter I think.

oh I didn't realize .. The berm was about 35 yards away the bush was 60-75 if I remember correctly

@crazymike199 if you remove the infrared filter on the camera you could but it can be tricky sometimes and you might damage the camera

@eddluireg i made one out of a infrared light board on ebay but it uses a 9v battery and it doesnt have much range but its good for lighting up a room or a back yard

The guy holding the camera/pvs-14 is annoying. And all you need is a cheap Chinese flashlight with an IR bulb that has a narrow beam and it will shine fine, pretty close to the Sure Fire.
