I've been on iRacing for only a few days and I've learned pretty fast that the leaders will almost always wreck each other and you can easily inherit a win or top 5 while being safe

As a beginner in Iracing and oval racing myself, there is one extra important tip to me : don't be TOO cautious. I've learnt that yes, being in the back is a good thing to avoid most of the accidents (and i still do it, even not even qualifying to be sure to start here), but doing the race at 50km/h when the average racer is running at 90+, you're becoming a hazard for the other racers and yourself. There's nothing worst than having to overtake a very slow driver who's not confident for the 5th time. Been there, done that, didn't end well. You need to maintain at least a good pace while keeping your distance, that's where training comes handy. If you yourself can't do a full race without issue when you're alone on the circuit, there's little hope you'll make it out alive with other people. I'm also playing in VR; graphics are not great, but it gives a whole new perspective to locate accidents beforehand and avoid them.

If you want to get out of rookies fast you have to completely ignore the results, start in the back and let everyone go and play a game of avoiding everyone at all costs. You can also improve SR by doing time trials and turning clean laps over and over again not worried about speed, just clean laps. This won't help you get better in any way so you may be stunted when you actually race, but you can rank up quick. I got out of dirt road rookie doing only one race and a bunch of time trials.

Great video mate, good tips. Regarding Safety Rating, what do you think about this way? I think that it might be the fastest way to increase the SR :

I did my first oval dirt yesterday. I was not even able to find pit exit.

Ok, but I still don't know what car, class or track would be best to start oval racing on. What is the slowest, easiest to handle, oval asphalt car? I tried trucks and damn thing gets loose on exit like crazy.

I always check what oval track is being used for the week in ranked. and what cars, then I just test drive with the car and track

@@lilbustyOG Thanks. That is what I did this first week, bought Arca car and Homestead, but I cannot consistently drive it out of turn 4 for 30 laps with not losing it on exit. So this week I am driving Stocks @ Charlotte instead.

I don't know how to report, but the only time I've tried to was in Oval racing. Just a waist of time.

The main question remains: Why I want to start oval racing? Road racing is boring enough in iRacing.
