iRacing Rain Update on Quest 3 vs. GT7 (PSVR2) // Which Looks Better? iRacing recently released their rain update for the game and in this video we are going to test it out in VR on the Quest 3 but we are not going to stop there. We are going to put it up head to head against Gran Turismo 7 and PSVR2 to see if iRacing's rain update looks and plays good. We will be looking at the graphics of each, the smoothness of gameplay and how the actual driving is compared to each other. So who is going to win the rain battle and did iRacing nail it right from the start? Let's see!

What about end of the rain, or dynamic weather? when rain end, how tracks dry for these games? I know GT7 did a fine job there, certain sides of the road drys first etc, very realistic. I have no idea how this works in iracing.

Brilliant comparison. I enjoyed the update to iRacing finally having rain. Although your mention of the puddles in iRacing being better than GT7, I would disagree. If you look at this track in the rain, the puddles form close to the pitstop in real life. GT7 places the puddles in the real-life places where they form. Also, tracks soak up water in real life and don't look like a GTA mod. People seem to see shiny graphics and think it looks better; that's just my opinion. Although iRacing in the rain looks way better than not in the rain, it still feels like outdated graphics to me though. Also, the dynamic weather seems better in GT7. As for the rain flicking up covering your view, it used to be like that, but the community cried as always and it got removed. New Sub. Good content mate.

Apparently GT7 toned down the spray effect due to performance cost, the effects are further toned down in VR due. If you go watcha launch 1.0 video of the rain spray it's much more extreme

Gt7 had the spray you couldn’t see through and dirt clouds on release but changed it after an update unfortunately

I remember watching launch GT7 gameplay where the spray effect from from cars in front being a lot stronger. Maybe the VR mode nerfs it

GT7 actually looks better to me. I avoid racing in the rain, just saying. It just isn't as fun to me. VR is amazing no matter the platform.

It was a big deal for iRacing to finally get it as they want to be the leader in realistic sim racing but lacked rain, which is a part of racing. I will say I enjoy rain in VR, but not for the actual racing of it but just for the immersion and the sounds of the rain hitting the car.

@@thecasualracinggamer yes, seems a a bit overcooked in iracing, could be a bit more on gt7, though. As you mentioned, gt7 looks more dry, but iracing it looks like lakes rather than puddles🤔

IMHO, GT7 road looks better. Just search on youtube "gt3 onboard rain". Road is not supposed to look like a mirror. Initially GT7 had the same way of blocking your view when driving behind the car, but turned it down because of complaints.

Not a fan of comparisons like this. I race in GT7, of the more than 1200 hours I have sat infront of the screen or had my VR head set on, less than one half of one percent has been in heavy rain. And the race I was in that I changed and put on wet tires I came in second from 10th place because everyone else skidded off the track.😮😂. And the view when it is raining in PSVR2 is gonna be lousy, not as clear as what you are displaying here. Have no idea how it is in iracing but perhaps the same, which is ok since dirt grime and water don’t always wipe away. jmo

There is lens distortion with the PSVR2 headset on. What you are depicting here is 4K on to a screen. I wish we saw what you show but it is not accurate when we are actually simulating in a race. Rewatching it is totally different, and yes much more clearer than what the actual experience was. As far as puddles looking more realistic at 70- 200 mph. OK hands down tracing in 4k is better(don't have a Quest to try out) However the immersion into the game is completely real most likely in both VR's Was not aware that iRacing before did not have rain, so yes that's a big deal to add. Again I am a fan of all types of elements weather it be dusk to dawn, snow, and yes rain! Hope this makes what I said more clear for you. On another note in this weeks race "C" I am trying out many different models and surprisingly the Peugeot VGT (Gr3) does not have cockpit view, so I raced in a roof cam for the first time in PSVR2. I race in PS VR 2 and for the Daytona race I used the Peugeot VGT and I really really liked it and I might give it a go for this week's daily race C. You get used to the lack of steering wheel and gauges in front of you but you get a heck of a lot more view and it's pretty immersive so, how is this car for race C is it pretty competitive?

@@davidshekhter5284 It is very competitive, I tried it out because someone won the race in that car, The top end speed is where it comes to life. I set brake balance to 4 on it, and TC to 1 or even 2. Slower time but less chance of spin out. I am doing this all on a Logitech G923, your set up may be different. Also using the Ford GT spec, both have high top end speeds. Can’t wait to get load cell pedals once the G racing adapter is available. Really like my wheel with the TRUEFORCE feedback. I am not paid for this advertisement!🤣

This track is asphalt and doesn't collect a lot of standing water. This is why GT7's moist track details are far superior than other games because they don't cater to flashy, they character to realism.

I’ve been jumping back and forth between them too, definitely more nuance in iracing and realism overall, but GT7 still feels great and is so much easier to just play. No mouse required or clunky menus etc. Everything just works every time and the online racing can be quite competitive and fast paced.

I find for PC, iRacing is the most plug and play sim available. It almost feels console like for its simplicity. Well to me at least. LOL
