Salmas is one of the cities of West #Azarbaijan province and the center of a city with the same name. This city is located 90 km north of #Urmia on the road connecting Urmia-#Tabriz. According to the 2015 census, its population is around 95 thousand people. In 1309, an earthquake leveled this city. Following this earthquake, the new city of Selmas was built according to the principles of modern urban planning and with a checkerboard design, a few kilometers north of the ruins of #Dilman .
In addition to its thousands of years of history, Selmas has been one of the most important cities in Azerbaijan in the history of Iran's political developments. Especially during the constitutional movement, it nurtured martyrs such as "Haider Khan Amwaughli", the first electrical engineer of Iran, and " #Saeed_Salmasi " and presented them to the constitutional movement.
Also, #Emmanuel_Agassi, the boxing champion of Iran between 1321 and 1331, who is the father of #Andre_Agassi, the world tennis champion, was born in Selmas.

It looks like a nice city. But .... I don't think they should allow the store owners to take over the sidewalks. Their merchandise should just fit inside their own store and not overload into public spaces and into the people's walkways. That would make the city look Orderly & beautiful ( more beautiful ).

من در سلماس به مدت ۲ سال زندانی بودم ماموران زندان سلماس از شریف‌ترین انسانها بودند ولی نمی خواهم اسم ببرم این ماموران عامل اصلی زنده ماندنم بودند و در سال ۶۷ زمان اوج اعدام‌های وحشیانه آخوندهای انگلیسی تبهکار حامی من بودند امیدوارم زنده وسلامت باشند شهر زیبائی است و کهنه شهر را هم می شناسم باشد که این نظام نکبت اسلامی از هم بپاشد و به خاکم برگردم پاینده باشید
