I do as well and they did so under sanctions. This means they could NOT easily or legally obtain any part that had more than 10% of US material or manufacture. In other words, the SP was and still is DAMN RELIABLE. If Iran Air wanted to, they could keep these SP's flying longer than what will be the last A380 flight, likely 7-12 years from now. Saudi Arabian will probably keep them for the Haaj and VIP trips well into the future. The SP is the best built modern plane by Boeing. It is the only jet plane that has a moon roof (not many people know this), so if the instruments fail, a sextant can be used (this was a Pan Am design request). I noticed you like the sound of the engines, me too - PW JT-9D's. They sound the best. Last note: did you know the SP was the first and one of only two commercial jet planes whereby the wingspan is longer than the fuselage? Do you know the other?

That was a Falcon that some guys were doing some air-to-air photography from. I am not sure it worked out as planned though, as it was far away and we never saw them again after that.
