My last flight on a 727-200 was in 1997 (Mexicana) from Mexico City to Ciudad del Carmen (Yucatan Peninsula). Being such an enthusiast I got invited to the cockpit. Started chatting with the crew and ended up living the best thing that could happen to anyone: They let me stay until engine cutoff. Landing in Ciudad del Carmen island was magic. Hearing and watching the trim go back and forth, doing a visual approach in a perfect day at noon, on a runway next to the ocean.. Best thing ever. I still remember it so vividly. I wish I had a video camera back then.. The best way to relive that is through a flight simulator and a commercial aircraft add-on like Captain Sim 727 or similar, which has the sounds so I can rev the engines as I please and bask in the sound. Check that her in KZbin.

I haven't flown in a 727 since the 70's. I used to always get a window seat behind the wing so I could watch those amazing flaps unfold. They were a beautiful plane to travel in; fast, smooth, great sounds. You really knew you were flying, in a nice way. They felt like like something special. Thanks for posting.

Yes, same here...the flap engineer ing was impressive to watch raise & lower
We will never see a plane like these nowadays :( such a beautiful design, complex wings and elegant but yet sexy looking lines, the cabin was just amazingly comfortable, the engines sounded like real aircraft engines, and the T tail desing was just sexy.. Very very beautiful and legendary plane!.

Great video, thank you! The 727 was the best airplane ever. Streamlined, sleek and sexy. I worked as a Chicago based FA for American Trans Air. Since we were able to bid schedules by aircraft type, I exclusively worked the 727 from 2000-2002 before they were retired, Good times.

Great video! I flew the 72 for over 7 years. I really enjoyed it. The best handling for gusty winds and strong crosswinds. The fastest Vne for any transport and high cruise mach despite being under powered by modern standards. It's a bit stiff legged so you had to work for a greaser but well worth it.

Fast machine indeed. Always over takes us in the cruise.🤣

Love looking at the wings during take off's and landings. It's probably the only time they look like they're doing any thing. Even though the aerofoil design has changed over the years that wing layout has stayed the same on Boeing commercial aircraft. Inboard flap, high speed aileron outboard flap, spoiler/speed brakes in front of the outboard flap and low speed aileron. Thanks for posting this. There's not too many 727 left flying passenger routes these days.

I remember watching this exact same thing in an Alaska Airlines 727 coming in to land in Juneau AK in Sep. 1970 - with a backdrop of glaciers and mountains in the background. Exactly one year later to the day the same flight hit a mountain in heavy cloud cover. Nice landing here, perfect flare.

My favorite airplane, first time was United from CLE to Tuscon and back, the final time I flew was TWA from cleveland ohio to columbus ohio for only 70 round trip, comparing to Greyhound 75 RT for 2 hours and this 727 takes 30 minutes door to door, so WHICH one IS GOOD DEAL?????

Maybe they were using differential thrust to counteract wind forces, but i highly doubt that.. perhaps it has something to do with the age of the engines not giving the same thrust due to the same reason, or maybe its something up with the rudder, or maybe its because its design hehe. Have a nice day.
