An informative interview. Thank you. With the U.S., Europe and the Arab states opposing escalation, the pushback against an Israeli escalation strategy seems likely to render one ineffective. One of the ways wars end is when both parties loose the ability, will or desire to continue it. Mr. Kusa makes a very good point about this ending in a peace conference, but it's hard to see that happening soon. This is not the same as the geopolitical context in Ukraine, where a peace agreement now would be a Russian win, trading land for a piece of paper with a liar's promise. The west must provide sufficient resources for Putin's aggression to be defeated.

Framing things as evil and good is spectacular for _explaining_ why countries do things. Understanding what a country's _reasons_ for doing things, from said country's perspective, is probably more useful for _predicting_ what they are going to do at any given time.

*Highly intelligent* discussion of the situation and prospects between Israel & Iran. I'm also interested in the deeper historical perspective. Both states have peculiar, millennia-old relationships with their neighbours. Indo-Iranian peoples from the steppe carved out territory through the Caucasus into the Middle East and on to the Indian subcontinent. That has since been confronted by Mongolic, Turkic and eventually Arab expansions, with Islam now almost completely dominant. A legacy of religio-ethnic "hotspots" to this day includes Ossetia, Armenia, Pakistant & India. Semitic peoples of Canaan included Judeans/Israelites who distanced themselves from their cousins by adherence to the Judaic tradition of Abraham & Moses - forging their identity as the Chosen People, followers of the One God. After diasporas, 2000 years without statehood, much persecution, then Hitler's genocide, they returned "home". The 1917 Balfour Declaration was not good enough and Ben Gurion's "Israeli Declaration of Independence" was quietly signed amidst the 1948 civil war in Palestine. The State of Israel was recognised first by the United States (closely followed by Iran), and the United Nations a year later. Its Islamic Arab neighbours became its sworn enemies. Since then, Israel has pursued an expansionist policy, annexing Paelstinian land while refusing to agree statehood for Palestinians themselves. Dismantling the Ottoman Empire after WW1 was a shabby process, dominated by self-interested great powers and their lobbyists, with little regard for the affected populations. The region (and the world) is now paying the price. Iran's Islamic Revolution of 1979 created a new enemy for Israel. At the same time, Iran's relations with Arab neighbours have ebbed and flowed as sectarian differences were emphasised or overlooked. And I remain unconvinced how deep is many Iranians' attachment to Islam. Government policy in neither Israel nor Iran reflect fully the will of their peoples (which are internally bitterly divided). The saner elements of each do not want war.

Головне - практика. Кожен день хоча б трошки займатись і через півроку вже будете частково розуміти. Краще починати з більш простих відео, адаптованих книжок, подкастів. В ідеалі щоб незнайомих слів було 10-15% - тоді будете швидше прогресувати.

Were there prior attacks from Iran ? Pretty much from the founding of Israel, at least in a subliminal proxy war. Which means that *_any_* attack that Israel does can be framed as a retaliation. That still makes Israeli initial strike an escalation into direct warfare. Netanyahu has been trying to get to this point with Iran for a while, and get direct support from allies with this.

Sorry, but Kusa doesn't understands how things go in the Mid East and moreover, he should read the Hague Convention : Even NATO would be legally entitled to "deal" with Iran because Hezbollah did terror attacks in NATO countries! YUP! If you use a foreign militia to attack another country, you're responsible for their acts which are a casus beli! Another point : IDF didn't struck the Iranian consulate or embassy in Damascus, it was a building next to it! Moreover, there is an UNSC resolution banning any transfer of weapons to Lebanese militia and even ordering their dissolution! Stop the BS !

Do not say sorry when one is not sorry. However, the comment is enlightening adds concision, and may correct a popular media and world public error. Right now, we have seen the Hamas having used weapons provided through russia, facilitated by Iran, to engage in the initial atrocious attack. This aligns with russian "reflexive control" policy, to cause proxy-like warfare, without having been recognized as primary instigator ( though the fact of demented religion being the exploited vulnerability waiting for such use, is a cognitive problem existing since tribal and feudal times, for over 5,000 known years). Autocracy in any guise, whether oligarchic in nature, as is religion, or subject to desire for arrogation through force in any human coalition, would appear to be the causal factor in warring. The United Nations, hampered by refusal to develop beyond the exigencies causing its present flaws, was instituted to prevent war through supranational response. NATO was originally a stopgap aliance intended to prevent war breaking our among or between opposing members due to the problematic Security Council veto power over general assembly decisions. Kusa DOES understand the present, and is insofar as i can determine without researching him, merely a scholar, commentator. These exists lacunae in all individuals, including strategists, legal scholars, professionals in every discipline. I suggest that overgeneralization be dropped as rhetorical tool by youtube commenters. Logic itself is prey to bias; however implicit and explicit it may be.
