One could even suspect that Hamas is acting for the Islamist regime and not for the Palestinians, particularly considering the catastrophe Hamas brought on Gaza on October 7, which they did purposefully. Can we stop pretending that Hamas is fighting for the Palestinians and not die the Islamist regime now?

Is it truly plausible to argue against retaliation after such aggression, with funding funneled to Hamas and Hezbollah while aligning with Iran? Now Qatar calls for a ceasefire-how convenient. Israel must be allowed to finish its mission. This is not yet the time to speak of “the day after.” First, the hostages must be returned. Second, the architects of these wars, the Iranian regime, must be held to account. Only then can peace be realistically pursued. Israel has a responsibility to ensure its neighbors have stable leadership for lasting security. If genuine peace is your aim, you would advocate for this. If not, your position speaks for itself.

The former ambassador is living in the 1970s, as most of the foreign office are. There will be no two state solution, the Palestinians have never accepted it and the Israelis know having it is like inviting in a Trojan Horse.
@stephaneaderca79487 сағат бұрын
This is a complete inversion of reality. The PLO, the historic movement representing the Palestinian people, has accepted the two state solution for over 30 years. Benjamin Netanyahu has always refused the two state solution, and has spent his entire career sabotaging it. To that hand, he has deliberately supported Hamas (which may yet accept a two state solution in due course) as a means of weakening the PLO. Tthis has been reported widely in the Israeli press. If there cannot be a two state solution, because Israel has sabotaged it (promoting Hamas in Gaza, and settlements in the West Bank), then there will be a one state solution. One man, one vote, regardless of race or creed. The world will not accept seeing the Palestinians ethnically cleansed, genocided, or parked in bantustans. If Israel cannot tolerate a two state solution, and will not give Palestinians equal rights in an Israeli state encompassing the West Bank and Gaza, then Israel is an avowed apartheid state offering unequal rights and using the bantustan approach to getting rid of the natives (i.e. parking them in fake bantustan micro-states). We all know how apartheid South Africa ended. Israel will be no different.
@nickyverra21756 сағат бұрын
@@stephaneaderca7948 you are sadly misguided. The Palestinians rejected each peace deal, both the ones offering a joint state and those offering two states. When you claim the PLO accepted a peace treaty they did not. They signed the Oslo accords which were the precursor to a peace treaty and then reneged on the terms of it and ended the peace process with an intifada. So please don’t try to twist the facts to fit a narrative.
@stephaneaderca79486 сағат бұрын
@@nickyverra2175 While the PLO was negotiating with Israel, a country that then had fairly moderate leaders, Israel was busy making the two state solution impossible by placing hundreds of thousands of settlers in the West Bank, heart of the putative Palestinian state. As Hanan Ashrawi put it "Negotiating with Israel is like discussing a fair partitioning of a pizza while one guy Israel is eating it non-stop." Except perhaps at one brief point in time under Ehud Barak, the Palestinians were never offered a two state solution. Then came Netanyahu, whose followers were responsible for murdering the Israeli PM who signed the Oslo accords. His entire political career has been staked on destroying the two state solution, including by supporting Hamas as a way to weaken the far more moderate secular PLO.
@nickyverra21756 сағат бұрын
@@stephaneaderca7948 again a narrative that doesn’t fit the reality. The Palestinians have never wanted to just have a state in the West Bank and Gaza. The PLO who you deem to be moderate have committed two intifadas against Israel, sent thousands of suicide bombers against Israel, murdered Israeli athletes at the Olympic Games, hijacked Israeli aircraft killing the passengers and have a pay to slay policy. That’s exactly how moderate they are. Hamas are worse. Even before Israel was recreated in 1948 they were attacking and killing Jews throughout the 1920s and 1930s and if you go back further they slaughtered Jews in the 1600s and 1700s in Tiberias, Safed and Hebron. This is from a people who are only in the land because they came as invaders 1300 years ago. The land is not theirs. They have built mosques on top of the temple site in Jerusalem and on top of the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron. That’s how willing they are to live in peace and share the land, a land that they actually deserve no part of except for the grace of the Jewish population. So don’t post things which have no truth and don’t try to convince me, because I’m fully aware as a Jew about all of this.
