Since mid September Iran has seen nationwide protests sparked from the alleged Bashing of Mahsa Amini for not meeting the strict dress Hijab criteria set by the nations morality police.
Majid Reza Rahnavard was recently publicly hanged by a crane for alleged crimes against the police that was pushed through court with not defence.

This idea that there must be a dichotomy of condemnation is something I have noticed becoming more prevalent over the last few years. For some reason, people have become so partisan(not just in politics) that they will go to great lengths to avoid acknowledging wrongdoing or falsehoods. Even if they know it to be so. I have come to the conclusion that it must be a self-protection mechanism. No one wants to admit they may have been fooled, because that would open the door to the idea that they could themselves be a fool.

This hanging will NOT end the uprising of the people. Iranian Kurds already getting armed and trained in Irak by Kurds there. We will may see not only unrest but fights with weapons. Iranian Kurds are the most oppressed people in Iran and they're fed up and ready to fight back.

They don't even offer them the dignity of a quick death by a broken neck by the knot to the back side of jaw with the long drop method, instead they choose to lift them up from the floor which is a slow torture and a slow death by being strangled with no broken neck. Hanging was supposed to be humane and quick this way Irn does it is the opposite and done on purpose to be slow.

Favourable view of the shah, his regime, his dictatorship was overturned by a revolution that produced the current dictatorship. Americans support his regime but i don't think it was very popular, and he also got his political rivals trown in prison or murdered. You simplified the history of Iran to much.

Regarding your last argument, I wholeheartedly agree. However, I believe that the reason why some people resort to whataboutism is to emphasize the fact that in one case (unrest and abuse in Western countries), criticism remains in the realm of thought and debate, while in the other (unrest and abuse in other countries, and especially in countries that are in conflict with the West), the debate is expected to turn into active support, potentially toppling the government, or igniting or supporting a civil war. Most people who comment on unrest in Western countries would stop short of offering anything like that, but aren't necessarily shocked by proposals of arming this or that insurgent group in Iran, Lybia, Syria, etc.

it's so awful. That is beyond cruel. For those who don't know, the normal method of hanging is the quickest way, despite the horrific buildup it's pretty quick if correctly done, but this method he outlines is appalling torture. Apparently the beating and torture of women by the 'morality police' is normal so all the women protesting knew about it. The slogan 'woman, life, freedom' and the main cities protesting (and Mahsa Amini) are Kurdish, something the West is refusing to mention. I don't think it's just kurdish, but i think that's an important element.
