Hi Tom, Russians already have the factory with assembly line in Yelabuga for shahed drones. Ukraine had bombed it few weeks ago. The factory is gigantic. So the results of the bombings are quite small. I suppose Russians still get some components from Iranians, but they could also be almost self-sufficient or close to that goal. As for pricing of shahed drones - there was a hacking made to russian databases recently. That showed pricing of those drones. There 3 prices that had been found in the leaked documents: 375 000 $ per 1 unit., 290 000 $ per unit if more than 2000 units is ordered 193 000 $ per unit if more than 6000 units is ordered Ukrainian experts told hundreds of times that it does not cost 20 000 or 40 000 $. They calculated the cost of parts that had been found in the drone and the value of parts is much more highrer. Only engine ( mado md 550 ) price is from 12 000 $ to 21 000 $ There are 50 kg of high explosive material. Depending of the quality could go up to 1000$ per kilo or higher (Who knows what is inside? TNT?). Navigation? (It could cost a lot) Body/Frame? (Ukrainian engineers refer to the body/frame as a very well made high quality one, with use of expencive materials) Starting engine? (It has 2 engines, one rocket engine to start from the trailer and the second is a prop engine mado md 550 ) That drone is definitely has higher price than we all think. I suppose it could cost up to 100 000 $ in parts alone. You definitely need to pay workers, software engineers.
@dragani233013 күн бұрын
For $375k the drone is inefficient. Storm shadow is around tipple the price. Considered its use, impact, different warhead types, small radar signature, far superior.

Remember Pearl Harbour. The Japanese were able to inflict such damage on the US Navy was because no one saw it coming. Iran is looking at Israel expecting a response. The problem with any responsive action is it tends to be set by the party initiating the action to prompt it. That means you end up dancing to their tune. However, if you take a step back, examine your options, "line up all your ducks", catch your breath, fully equip yourself and wait for your opponent to blink first, you win back the element of surprise they had when you were first struck. Currently, Israel has used a great deal of its defensive arsenal. The US is running up to an election and will not be giving Israel its full attention. The UK is rebuilding its forces too. The best and most effective solution is to wait. Iran would never know what hit them.

We have offered them (the Arabs) a sensible way for so many years. But no, they wanted to fight. Fine! We gave them technology, the latest, the kind even Vietnam didn't have. They had double superiority in tanks and aircraft, triple in artillery, and in air defense and anti-tank weapons they had absolute supremacy. And what? Once again they were beaten. Once again they scrammed [sic]. Once again they screamed for us to come save them. Sadat woke me up in the middle of the night twice over the phone, "Save me!" Iran is able to close down both shipping lanes on both sides of the arabian peninsula. They have nothing to lose. Persian gulf countries can't go to war with Iran. I don't think you understand how bad this is for western economies. Almost 25% of the world consumption of petroleum products goes through the strait of Hormuz. Another 10% at the strait Bab el-Mandeb. Russia and Iran are shielded against these oil lanes. But Europe and a lot of Asian countries are dependent. A war there can literally cripple the entire world and create mass hunger in a week.

Meanwhile just the US effort to intercept some of those drones was like $1.3 *billion.* If someone makes you use a multimillion dollar interceptor for every flying moped you don't actually hit them with that sounds like they inflicted massive losses in the imbalanced costs.
