I was in Iran as a 17-year-old boy back in 1979 just after the revolution and before the American hostages were taken. I was travelling overland from Chelsea via Greece and heading for the Himalayas. I was having a ball despite the danger, but the people are generally amazing. The Shah thought too much of himself and he and his cronies paid the price, then it went from bad to worse with a strict Islamic regime. Amazing country, history, and people, so kind generous and friendly, it needs a government that accepts all religious freedom but allows people who wish to live by western values, to live so peacefully, but it will be a tough battle as the religious clerics and hardcore followers will not roll over. I hope they find a peaceful solution for the sake of their people, also as I am planning a trip back to film some very rare wildlife, fingers crossed.

The US already freed Afghanistan. The people of Afghanistan did nothing. We trained a new army, built roads, schools and government building, and power plants for electric. The USA spent trillions of dollars helping afghans. When it was time to go, the afghan army ran away. The people didn't help at all.
