Other lines are misleading regarding the reality. For example, the Seleukid Empire was defeated by the Scythians, followed by the enormous media (Mada) empire, the mother of the great Kurus, the daughter of the recent Medic king, and when he attacks the Scythians.530, because after the Scythian relatives, the King of the Scythians he wants to be, then he goes to war and dies. The whole world at that time was the family war of the Scythians, which is presented differently today.

I think you did a great job of contextualizing each side and its great to hear how the battle fit into the political landscape of the Parthians. I never understood why Surena was killed but it makes a lot of sense with how unstable the top position was at the time. Damn shame that guy missed out on a crazy career.

@@hisdudeness4537 I feel this way about Hannibal and Carthage. The war was never gonna be won in Italy. He needed to hold onto Spain and lead the charge on Sicily and the best way to do that would have been a deliberate march on Carthage and strong arming his position as supreme commander of all military resources. Patience in general I think would have given him more options. He kinda just rushes to Italy after Saguntum and then he was stuck there. Even just ferrying his army to Sicily after Cannae could have swung the war even greater. The lesson to learn for future conquerors is that loyalty only matters if it benefits both parties. If you have the means to seize control, a justifiable reason to march against your state, and the will to carry that burden, to me there's no consideration. Hesitation is defeat.

​@@hisdudeness4537 Surena had something called loyalty Which Orodes II didn't deserve And that would've been considered usurpation and very dangerous for the dynasty that had done so Sure house of Suren was famous and gained great victories but usurping the throne was never easy And the people weren't unsatisfied with Orodes rule Even when Surena was executed, other 6 noble houses didn't do anything The Sassanid general, Shahrbaraz, is a good example Even with all those great victories in battles and years of service, he lasted only for 40 DAYS after usurping the throne of Iran and was assassinated by other nobles

Hannibal could have executed a more passive warfare focusing on Sicily if it was the first punic war but it was the second and Carthago did not have a relevant fleet anymore. If Hannibal focuses on Sicily Rome sails to Carthago and destroys his home, blocks the trade income they so much need. Hannibal understood the only valid consequence out of that in marching on Rome. His downfall was that Rome had a superior way of governing and instilled loyalty into it's allies that was not breakable.

Hi Alan, I resorted to mostly reading out the dates in those last videos but have returned to it with the new series (Ottoman/Sassanian). Luckily for me though, I didn't have to go to the States, so I'll be able to binge for a while tonight. I'm glad to see that you haven't been idle, (but I'm not surprised, haha). I also just wanted to say that I had tried being a Patreon to your Channel a few months back, but I'm pretty sure that the payment didn't go through. What had happened was, I had actually gotten my identity stolen (i.e. bank account info). Apparently, One should be very careful when using certain ATMs in the U.S.A. (although probably in Canada too). So I've actually wanted to become an actual paying Patreon, but these last couple months I've been fairly unlucky with technology My Friend, hahaha. Me as a person, who is half Iranian and half German has been strongly interested in the ancient history of the near and middle east in particular Iran. Unfortunately, it is not true. Their history is full of lie and fake histories and this fake history make, Iranian minorities like Persian people, a racist nation and they think they are the best and GOD creat them to be boss for the world but if you look at them today, you will not see anything, that you read in their history. Thises histories mostly made up by freemasons to defeat Turkish people inside Iran, who had great empires in Iran over 2500. First thanks for watching and commenting Danya. As for the second portion of your comment. It is always tough deciding on how to present it. I like to present (keeps it interesting for me) it as a time travel piece. IE you are travelling to this time period to experience things as closely as I can make them to how they were recorded. Unfortunately that means i may label a sea differently and I realize not everyone is as good with geography or history as me or wants to do the research after. What I can do is add that to the descriptions of future videos. For example, this series take place in what is now: Mostly Iran, parts of Iraq, Syria, Armenia, Italy, Israel and Egypt.
