We are not Iraqi Christians. We are Assyrians. We are the indigenous people of this land. One day we will return to our country. Assyria belongs to the Assyrians. Isaiah 19:23-25 Nearly six million Assyrian Christians dot the world. Mesopotamia is the homeland of the Assyrians. The famous royal cities of the Assyrians, Ashur, Nimrud (Kalhu), Arbela, Dur-Sharrukin and Nineveh were built in it. The Assyrians ruled for approximately 1,300 years - from about 2000 B.C. to 612/10 BC - in northern Mesopotamia an ancient landscape between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers. A clear reference to the existence of the Assyrians, on the other hand, can already be found in the Old Testament (1st Book of Moses 2:14). There it says: * “… the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. The fourth river is the Euphrates..."

None of the people you interviewed said it’s Akitu or called themselves just Christians, the name of this video is offensive and sends a hateful message that shows the efforts to erase the Assyrian name. They’re called Assyrians and it’s Assyrian new year, stop giving us your names we don’t want them.

No…. Christian is those who believe in Christ regardless to any country or nation. It has nothing to do with your ancient traditions nor beliefs. May the title of the video was a mistake in generalizing as of Christians but has no implication on Assyrian new year celebrations. May there are Christians or not or none but this is a beautiful example of a continuous celebration from ancient times for 6773 years

Excuse us. We are NOT as you labeled us "Iraqi Christians", we are ASSYRIANS celebrating our national festivity in our own land ASSYRIA, ASHUR Land. Happy Assyrian Kha B'Nissan 6773.

We all know you are Assyrians… children of great and powerful nation. As Assyrian, a heart can believe in God and Christ. Is not about religion but a belief. People mistake on definitions about beliefs. Christian name began after the crucifixion of Jesus, name given to Romans and others people during the Roman Empire who turned to Christ instead of many gods deities of the Empire and this was taken as crime and see it as going against the Cesar Emperor who was considered as god on earth as Rome was the empire of ancient world. Today being a Christian means to belong to a church that has many of it with different creeds and regulations. Truly, a Christian is not to be of any Christian church but just believing is Christ… this is only one can do to be a Christian. Even secretly believing in Christ within the heart… a private belief
