Dan Sheehan’s absence is noticeable, same with Furlong. Bealham was the one with two of the early knock ons and a penalty that halted Ireland’s attack early. Gus McCarthy is a breath of fresh air and looks like he’ll be leap-frogging Kelleher and Herring when Sheehan returns. O’Toole looked a step up from Bealham, but to be fair Bealham just isn’t a starter. He’s much better as an impact player off the bench. The bench won the game in the end. Casey is playing brilliantly at the moment, and Crowley is still better than Prendergast, although Prendergast did okay. Good to have some healthy competition between two promising young players in that position. Loved seeing Healy and O’Mahony come on and help secure the win, both absolute legends, but I’d rather not see them in green again. Time to build toward the future.

Kelleher and Herring should definitely be worried. Sheehan to return, McCarthy emerging and Tom Stewart just back from injury. Combined age of those three is only 70. The future at No.2 is looking good.

Jesus, they are incapable of admitting Crowley made a huge difference to the attack when he came on. Suddenly the Australians had to commit 2 to defend a 10 with the running power of a centre and who could make dominant tackles to stop players on the gain line in defence

Geez give Wallabies some credits! ABs know it well, being in the helm of winner gold % than anyone, that everyone will want to catch up. To do that beat the best. Wallabies hazzle Ireland to make mistakes. ABs had Wallabies coming from behind to almost beat them. They acknowledged Wallabies were good and then went on to beat Ireland but get defeated by France. You can play how you want to the degree of how an opposition allows you to play - hence the meaning of "versus".

Irish lineout is a massive weakness, as it has been for 2 years against teams that challenge at the lineout. Need to freshen up the lineout coaching.

Can’t say Ireland should be beating them “by a lot more” as the history lately shows it’s only 3 points difference.

We have to realise that the first 12-18 months of Andy Farrell’s tenure was pretty average and it took time to get his mark on this team. He turned us into the best and most exciting attack in world rugby after that in the lead up to the World Cup and unfortunately we didn’t perform against NZ when it mattered. It’s now another World Cup cycle and we’re pretty average again. Playing poor but winning. Good to see some new players coming in and performing like Gus Mc Carthy and Sam Prendegast. The lineout has been very poor for almost 2 years now and needs to improve massively. Farrell will still have an influence on selection although he’ll be concentrating on the Lions tour. Keep faith, be patient and we’ll see the free flowing exciting rugby that we’re used to over the past few years with this Irish team. Éire Abú 🇮🇪

problem is the wings lack world-beating pace and opp. defence knows that, so they get encircled. Need some wing with LRZ type pace

Always sooo biased. Give Aussie some credit. You guys are amateurs at being # 1 in the world. If your not crushing other teams in the whole series then stop expecting like you should be. That"s how the downfall begins, by expecting to beat teams without due credit. You've only been good for a hot minute in the grand history of rugby.

Ireland were crushing teams for the last 2 years, that’s why the were no.1. No one in Ireland really cares about the no.1 spot anyway but as soon as they drop SH fans are out taking lot shots. All teams blame themselves for playing poorly they always, especially when they are unforced errors.

Yet another punter who claims Ireland have ideas above their station. We know where we are. The Great Quarter Final Fact remains. I get the feeling that fans of some countries who have been at the very top for much longer just don't like it that there's another kid on the block, so they either remind us of our history or claim we are arrogant. Possibly that betrays a bit of insecurity on their own part. But in the meantime, if you can point to specific instances where any of the Ireland management team or Captain have said we should be crushing every team out there, be my guest. I'll go and put the kettle on. It might take a while to boil, so take your time, Melanie. And don't point to punditry - they are there to sell papers and clickbait.

Ireland on the decline. Their low ebb cycle has begun just as it did for NZ after the 2015 RWC.

What an absolute joke. Ireland get away with another dodgy referee and TMO call. They should have been a man down for 20mins or probably for the entire game. Oz might have missed a few chances and made bad choices, but Ireland were definitely helped a long by the officials again. IMO, if the game was officiated fairly, Oz would have won by 8. These blokes don't help Ireland's case. It's seems to me they refuse to criticize Ireland harshly. It's all fluffy and nice. Ireland will struggle in the six nations and beyond. No depth, no spark, no fight, no ideas. Awesome, maybe the sh*t talk from their supporters will stop for a minute.
