If only this had been sorted in 1886. It would have saved 130 odd years of misery and division

Unfortunately unionists didn’t govern the six counties the way Carson intended,they governed it like a second class dominion hence the civil rights movement in 1968/69 and the troubles. Hardline unionists didn’t want any reform.

Like the Paul McCartney song says: "Give Ireland Back to the Irish". That was obviously intended for the British to give up Northern Ireland, the last conclave of Protestantism, which doesn't really mean anything anymore considering the liberal views of "Catholic" Ireland.

How do you mean Republic does not want NI neither does Ulsters beloved Britain want NI.

LMAO off when I read 'the last conclave of Protestantism'. A conclave is a special conference/meeting held where Cardinals in the Catholic Church select a pope. The word you are looking for is 'enclave'. I suppose your fuck up is appropriate given the meaningless nonsense contained in your comment. Amusing though.

Liberal now. Not liberal during the Troubles, and definitely not liberal during the Anglo-Irish war. Home rule was definitely Rome rule.

Ulster "loyalism," the definition of a misnomer. Firing on the anointed king. Violently opposed to democratic process, as spelled out for them by Gladstone. Against even the British parliamentary majorities. Loyal to what then? Fundamentalism? Bigotry? Apartheid? Presbyterianism is indistinguishable from Sharia Law. Grim irrational religious extremism. Projecting its brutality and treachery onto everything around it.

They seem to define themselves more as non-catholics and non-republicans and that's their motivation for doing whatever they want to do. It's obvious since as you said, they very often don't agree with Westminster (or the opinions of other British people) at all on a range of issues.

Not much has changed over the last few hundred years. Lets hope Brexit underlines the reality that there are 2 distinct nations living on the island of Ireland and the call for unity causes more problems than it solves.
@adep1544
@adep1544 5 жыл бұрын
There are 2 distinct ideologies on the island, and within those ideological conclaves, 2 different forms of christianity. There are not 2 distinct nations. And it is that way due to tyrannical plantations. Northern Island is the best example of an illegitimate nation set up by pure imperialism on the planet. Northern Ireland is just an arm of England. Nothing more.

Northern Ireland is a scar on the island of Ireland which will not be healed in my lifetime. Says this Irish-American with Protestant ancestors who were Planters in Ulster.

It causes more problems for your kind ...maybe you should read the history of this island and dont forget to take off your orange tinted glasses...If you and your kind want to be British then go back to Britain ...This is Ireland and regardless of your deluded beliefs and cries of God save the "Queen " ...this will always be Ireland ..The Unity of this island has already begun...this is not the 1690s at the Boyne river or the streets of Derry in 1969 ..... this is 21st century Ireland...🇮🇪This country will be United one day ...Its inevitable and all the marching in July and waving of foreign flags will do very little to stop it .
