I have two friends who could not afford to build on their site , they are a hardworking family that have always struggled, the Wicklow co council refused to let them sell their site , only someone within 8km could purchase their site but the council refused some within that distance as they said the buyer was not in need ,, my friends are in their fifty s, killing themselves trying to build a house they cannot afford to build ,, if the council allowed they could sell and buy something somewhere with the money from the site ,, this country sucks when it comes to planing ,, it's actually criminal what they do

Not really sure how I understand why there was a previous housing crisis where indigenous Irish couldn't get houses built but now when the government reaches out to local landlords or hotel owners or contractors to build / rent / buy housing they're all the sudden going up left, right and center when the government uses your hard earned tax dollars to make these purchases.
