Very interesting as always. Supposedly there is the mummified corpse of a Crusader at St Michan's Church in Dublin. If my memory is correct he was supposedly 6ft 6" tall, which must have been freakishly tall back then.

Thanks and yes you are correct about the mummy but the question of crusader, is one I hope to do a video on soon!

Yes you are correct, I think the US invasion of Iraq had Crusade in its original title, that they had to quickly change!

another great post! jeffrey lived to a ripe old age in a castle, miraculous does 'norse' mean 'norwegian' specifically, or danish as well? i've seen/heard variations

Thank you! To answer your question, the various terms generally mean people from or associated with Scandinavia, the term viking is a relatively new one.

The "Gallowglass" families originally hailed from the Shetlands (*which was strongly associated with the 'Norse' ie North-men")

I don't have the context to understand who is who and where the holy land is. Is the claim that Christian crusaders killed Irish people in the name of spreading Christianity?
@primalireland-histcult2 ай бұрын
Thanks for your input. The "Holy Land" is traditionally synonymous with the biblical land of Israel and the region of Palestine. The military orders such as the Knights Hospitaller were sworn to protect Christian lives in the Holy Land, yet when stationed in Ireland took up arms against the Christian native Irish.
