Ireland had already chosen their entry for Eurovision 2023, but after a revamp it is now officially released!
The band Wild Youth took home the victory in Eurosong and will bring us the song 'We Are One'!

In the last few years, Ireland have sent good quality songs that seem to weaken as they transition to the stage. In this instance, I see this song suiting the live setting more than the recorded video. This song is going to give us U2/Coldplay anthemic concert vibes and I can’t think of another song that’s going to give us that in 2023. Good luck Ireland. I hope the voting is fair because this is a qualifier based on the songs so far 🇮🇪 🎶 The fact that we’re talking about Croatia qualifying with ease shows us how far Eurovision still has to come as a song contest 🤦‍♀️

Thanks Roy - yes the revamp seems to have changed the sound balance to bring guitars forward and the vocals have more attack. It sounds less like wallpaper (bland and forgettable) and grabs the attention more. I guess the female backing singers from The Late Late Show are gone now - I cannot hear them. Now they really need to focus on wardrobe - needs serious elevation. Wonder if each of them could incorporate some blend of flags in a tasteful (not kitch) way into each bandmates outfit.

One more interesting thing they have done is shortened the song by 15 seconds, it's only 2.45 now : they chopped half the second verse away (which suggests they were aware of criticisms the song was too repetitive).

The staging of the video is awful. If they come to Liverpool in silver masks and never take them off, they will get ZERO points!

It's refreshing to hear positive remarks about the Irish entry. I think they did a relatively good job with the revamp, although, I would have liked some of the lyrics to have been tweaked. It's definitely less repetitive than the original version . I think there is a slight chance this might qualify. Wild Youth have toured with Westlife and have performed in large arenas as a result. I think they're a borderline qualifier, and many people are too quick to write them off as a definite no. The staging and presentation of the song could make or break, along with the fact that the lead singer in this song is usually not the bands lead vocalist.

Completely agree with you Roy. Revamp might not have massive changes but it never needed massive changes anyways. I think very clever changes were made. They have polished it up and tidyied it all together. Great to hear a positive reaction that sees it's potential. I think it could be great on the night & qualify too 🙌

As long as they don't bring those creepy masks to Eurovision, I think they will qualify. I already liked the song but the revamp has improved it a lot.

It is a no from me, Wild Youth have a really good back catalogue of songs and this is just generic. Hate the music video too

It’s lovely to hear positive remarks about Ireland. Some people on YT make it out to be the worst song in the competition! It’s going to sound great in an arena. Completely agree it’s been underrated. How can you not react to this song without a smile and a toe tap!
