It was a mega hit and still holds its own 31 years later. FYI, there was life on the planet before Y-tube, 24hr cable, facebook, cell phones and Ipods etc. The disposable music of today will not stand the test of time.

Thanks for loving the 80s. By the way, I think Irene Cara is REALLY a special artist. She literaly begins the 80s right where the 70s leaves off, as she takes the spirit of Disco and expresses it in a new pop format, one which was growing in different forms through many different artists at that same time. Some other artists were transducing from country, love ballads, and other genres into the pop sound that was peculiar to the years from 1980-1982.

In my very personal opinion: It has a mean and groovy bass line, very tense that explodes on the chorus, drums are in-your-face but without being distractive, the guitar solo ROCKS, the keyboards are excellent, the background vocals are vivid, the lyrics are uplifting, Irene is AWESOME so..., I don't think it's wrong you love this song :D
