Bangalore tiffin sambar is what which would be sweet because of jaggery in it, for meals its not the same sambar and it won't be sweet, at least that's what I've tasted in their Sagar/Udupi hotels all these years.

i used to say same about sambar that sambar na sweet aa ilama irukradhu daan sambar nu.. but some years back on another youtube channel only i got to know sambar nama ooru ilayaam origin :( maharashtrian originaam.. name kooda edho king name aam sambar nu oru mannar per imagine pana mudiala dhaan (crosses with comedy like vellayaa iruka pasanga elaam sambar nga :p) and it is essential for that version of sambar to have a chunk of jaggery served aam.. ena koduma sirrr idhu nu daan irunduchu indha history..

Yes, Sambhar is a Maharashtrian dish. But irundalum Sambhar na adu TN sambhar dan. Namma TN la kuda oru oru district la sambhar taste maarum according to spices, water, vegetables, etc...
