I couldn’t get my fix of iRides until this morning but it was well worth the wait. When you were taking things apart I was very glad to hear you say “Got it, got it”. Lol, you didn’t have to bring back the chisel😂. Great job as always.

Nice one, very reminiscent of working on the Marauder carbs - always holding on the the needed when you unscrew it... I have been on hands an knees a few times from inadvertently launching them across the garage and spending an hour to locate the needle and spring. I also I learned to have a whole box of those tiny c clips to the needles - they often enough make a leap for freedom and are even better at playing hide and seek :).
@iRidetas4 жыл бұрын
Hahaha dont they just! They can ping when you push them onto the slots! Hopefully the HOG is going well! 😁

Don't forget to synchronize the carbs. That alone can make a big difference to throttle response and how the bike runs.

Will do

Hey mate, nice video. I currently fiddling with the the settings on my xvs650. I am a little stuck atm because i keep getting stutters at lower rpms (maybe 1/4 to 1/3 throttle) , they go away when i pull the throttle wide open and when it idles or drives on almost no throttle, so i tried adjusting the needle a bit. Open exhaust and intake, 20 pilot, 117 main and needle in the 4th slot with 2 shims. Sparkys were almost carbon fouled so i moved the needles to 3rd slot with 2 shims (basically the same as 4th slot) and i got only very very slightly better but not as much as it should be and changing between different positions didn't do much at all. My current theory is that at those throttle positions not enough air can get in to push the diaphragm back and lift the needle when it changes between the circuits. Could clipping the spring be a solution to that? I haven't found any information about clipping the spring anywhere else and the 650ccnd site seems to be down for good so I'm kind of lost and this is the only time I've seen someone do it. The rear cylinder running richer than the front on the exact same settings is a whole nother issue.

forgot to add that im at 700m above sea level, do you think that effects the seetings a lot or is it negligible?

ok, carbs are very simpler to XS 650 but sideways wooh , lots for me to learn ,

Very easy carb placement, particularly with pods it's very easy to work on and get to. I hated the carbs on ghe xs650 I had.

Make sure you synchronise the carbs. Any change made to the carbs can cause the carbs to fall out of sync. They shouldn't be any more than 20mm Hg (mercury) apart.
