Staying in Mexico without residency isn't as easy as it use to be in years past. I immigrated to Mx from the US several years ago. Right around the time the MX gov started cracking down on people doing border runs. 180 days is not guaranteed, no matter who might say they been doing border runs for however many years. Those days are done, now that they are computerizing their border crossing/immigration system. Its easier to catch people who been doing that, mainly US and CA retirees. Sorry to hear about your mom.

I’m so sorry to hear this! This must’ve been frightening for everyone, especially given that she had to connect back through another country just to get home. I live on the Mexico/US border in San Diego and things have gotten much stricter even for Americans to enter on foot there. In the past many could just show a drivers license and walk through, and Mexicans had a special lane where they could breeze through. Now they’ve required passports from all Americans and even Mexicans have to show legal ID. Americans get turned back around if they don’t have a passport. I’ve been crossing on foot for 8 years or so and have never seen it like that. I look forward to seeing your adventures back in JA

Also, digital nomads who went into the country, worked and stayed and don't report income. I'm sorry to hear this. (I also think about how it's alllll good when you're smiling and everything is going well, but when there's a challenge/misunderstanding/medical issue/visa issue, it just didn't seem very "friendly" if you get me.) Can you do a video on why Jamaicans leave Jamaica? it's such a people place.
@KBcubedP320 күн бұрын
A people place? No, the Jamaican government does care about its people. - And I'm saying this as a Jamaican - It's not like what they showed in the old travel brochures or Instagram. Jamaica is a poor country full of poor people that are LITERALLY trapped as foreign investors buy up all of the property along the coast. They charge guests hundreds and thousands of dollars but can pay the workers $35 USD per MONTH and charge locals $80 per DAY per person to visit. The country is over run with violence and corruption and infrastructure is crumbling or non-existent in some parts.

@KBcubedP3 🥹🥹I had no clue. I meant to say a beautiful place. Thank you for the truth. Melanated people have been oppressed everywhere on different levels.

Im sorry for what happened to your mother. This unfortunately the new norm for travelers seeking to travel abroad. This not only Mexico but every country that has some form of immigration crisis . This has nothing to do whether you from Jamaica or not, rather the new government is trying to limit or hold back on visitors preventing any future backlash. Every country has a right to govern its country in the best interest of its citizens. Mexico has been a haven lately for foreigners and at some point has to put a stop to it. You have Haitians, Venezuelans and more groups living in tents in many places while locals have to take the tab for things getting more expensive. This is an issue and at some point we have to draw the line. Mexico as i alluded before has to look out for its citizens and this is something to take mention for. We can all blame this that and the third but at the end of the day we are visitors and have to respect its laws independently how we feel or think. Best wishes for you and your family.

All goes to show that all that _tourism money_ isn't trickling down to the average Jamaican for them to now be flagged as economic migrants looking to exit to the USA via Mexico. Trinidadians, Bahamians, Bajans don't suffer such. Africans travelling to the Caribbean on African passports also don't have it easy due to being flagged by default as persons with aims of reaching the USA via a third country.

I’m really sorry about what happened to your mom. Regardless of what the issues were, there was no reason to not treat her like a person. It seems like targeting Jamaicans traveling to Mexico is a thing. Last year I landed in Mexico City and was almost denied entry as well even though I had my return ticket & could show where I’d be staying the entire time I was there. Just like you mentioned with your initial experience, the immigration officer called someone else & they were going back & forth & all the foolishness & it wasn't until he realized that I understood a bit of Spanish (& after lots of praying) that he suddenly got nicer & let me through. While I was there waiting I even heard them refer to someone else who was in another line with a Jamaican passport. Traveling as a Jamaican with a Jamaican passport & no US visa can get really ridiculous and it shouldn't be but like you said the good is suffering for the bad. I probably should make a video because I traveled to 3 countries last year, spending roughly a month in each & Colombia was the only place that was largely smooth to get in & out of. This video really struck a chord with me & I just had to leave my 2 cents. I pray for God’s grace, guidance, & protection as you take your next steps & navigate this new season of your life. ❤

Your comment/advice is relevant to any one who is seeking to enter/visit a country of which they are not a citizen or a permanent resident. Be prepared with information as to where your going to stay, have a return ticket to show that you are not coming to stay indefinitely, make sure you have the necessary financial means to support yourself for the duration of the trip. If not staying in a hotel, an invitation letter is to proved that your meals and accommodation will be provided for by your relatives. The oversight outlined in this video has been happening since I was a teenager 50+ years ago when I moved to live in my now adopted country; and later worked as an immigration officer at the port of entry. Be prepared for every possible situation.

Because her daughter doesn't have permanent residency, or citizenship in Mexico. Why didn't you tried doing tha in the United States? Didn't you said you have an American visa? I am a Jamaican by birth, and someone stole my Jamaican passport, and I had to travel on my American passport, and they refuse to give me mire the 3 months. I agrued that I was born in Halfway Tree, they didn't care. How are you going have your mother live with you in a foreign country without her own visa. Did you present bank statement to support your mother to the Mexican authorities? I am an American citizen that have moved to Mexico. I had to show the Mexican authorities in Chicago 12 months bank statement of over $300,000. Not pesos. I applied for permanent residency in my own country The United States. Mexico is not a 3rd country like your country. Mexico has about 32 states and over 135 million people in it. Jamaica has 2.8 million people. People are tired of you people. Majority of you people are criminals. Trying to cross the border into the United States is a criminal act. I am glad Trump won, and is going to get rid of you people. Why do you people have such contenpt for your own country. I am glad is threatening you with violence and prison , and still morons are still going there. Where is your dignity, your self respect, and your pride? The silly god that you generally consult with, why can't it "bless" your country. Why do you have to go to someone else's country to find your "blessing "? I live in Mexico, and even though Mexico is a big country, and the odds are small of running into one of you, I can't take that chance. FURTHER MORE,, Mexico has teamed up with the United States to prevent Jamaican from coming to Mexico. So, tell them, to stay in their criminal hile, and leave Mexico alone. Mexican immigration treats me like a queens, because I have that blue passport. In 2022 I returned to Jamaica after decades to like, the robbed me if my bracelet a day after I arrived. Even though I signed a leased fir a year, I break the least and left.🙄

Right now. we all have to bloom where we are planted. It's not a time for travelling to here there and everywhere. The world is getting weird, and people are being nomads indeed because of natural disasters, wars and rumors of wars, and countries are cracking down on the number of immigrants coming into their countries due to the strain on limited and shrinking financial resources that country has to sustain its own citizens. It's happening all over Europe as well. Wishing you all the best Monique. This too shall pass. It's good that you came out to shar your experience, and to warn people of what's going on...i.e. forget about going to Mexico if you are trying to get into the United States. This situation with immigrants coming to the US has come to a full stop. Actually the Biden Administration had been turning back people at the border and had already deported 1.1 million illegal immigrants from 2021 thru February 2024, and by June 2024 they were on target to deport 1.5 million people, and the number is way more by now. These deportations are in addition to the 3 million people they returned at the border. If you do some research you will find these numbers.
