Oh absolutely! ATS and Tribal Fusion are American styles. They have just recently started to become popular in Europe, and you won't be able to find this style in Middle Eastern countries. This dance has so many facets that it's constantly change it, one reason why I love it so much!.

You are right that is not baladi style, the song is Brooklyn Baladi, but it is belly dancing. American Tribal Style, it is its own type of belly dance created in the 80s/90s by Carolena Nericcio. It has stylistic roots in North Africa, Middle East, and some Flamenco which make it look more folkloric. Irina is a Tribal Fusion Dancer and she uses some of that style in this dance. It is a different style than say Jillina, or Ansuya, or even Carolena, but it is still belly dance.

I came here to comment on the music, which features an instrument called the Hurdy Gurdy. The band playing the music are called Djinn, The Hurdy Gurdy player is listed as Melissa the Loud. A long silence from them, sadly.

The only thing I would like common people to know is that this style of dance is not arabic. Everybody thinks the term Bellydance equals middle-east countries so that's why it's not just bellydancing but american bellydancing. Don't want people to think they'll get that style of dance when they hire a bellydancer,. that's all !

labels have no place in ART. be nice, don't judge or say if something is different it is not a STYLE of the "original" dance, there are different styles of Waltz ( Viennese Waltz, American Smooth, International Standard, Peruvian) no one discredits the other. Ur welcome. . :)
