'Raging outside'.... What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you inside? You're floridian! Go get your lawn chair, your tall beers and your pet alligator and enjoy the show! Come on, now, stereotypes matter! I visited a friend in Alabama once, and though I was an only child, I honored the tradition as best I could by sleeping with his sister. 😏 So get out there, drink until the wind sounds like words, take offense to them, then yell incoherent obscenities to the sky before you bite the neighbor's dog, then go streaking down the road yelling nonsense into a chili dog you swear is a microphone. Don't let us down. 😌

I live in the Waterloo region. Where JM Schneider first started making cured meats. His home is still standing over 100 years later and you can visit it. The facility moved out of town but this area is still home to the others you tried, Piller’s which is not far from where I live now in Waterloo. So cool that someone sent those to you and that you liked them overall.

Guys we don't call those pepperoni sticks anything but pepperoni sticks. Sausages are something completely different and they aren't smoked as a rule. We buy them uncooked from the grocery store and cook them at home. We do however have loads of different kinds of sausages to choose from . We also do have moose and deer and other wild game sausages if you know a hunter that will sell you some or give you some. I once had a neighbor who gave me some groundhog sausages. I thanked him and those immediately went into the trash after he left LOL

Here in the US we traditionally get the turkey “out of the way” on Thanksgiving. The Christmas menu typically includes other cuts of meat like crown roasts, spiral hams, etc.. Also, venison & game birds (pheasant, quail, Cornish hens, waterfowl, etc.) are popular fare. Practicing Catholics often continue observing Xmas Eve as one of the last three remaining “fast days.” The large, traditional “7-fish-dinner” on Xmas Eve is common among Italian-American families. In fact the humble turkey rarely makes another guest appearance in the US as main course on a holiday table until the following Thanksgiving!

We don't call those sausage in Canada. The sausages we eat as a meal are larger and influenced from countries around the world. We have all the German style sausages, Ukrainian style, Italian style etc. The Canadian twist would be the wild meat sausages like moose, deer or maple syrup infused sausage and farmer's sausage. The ones you are eating here are a snack we generally call pepperoni sticks or turkey bites. You can grab them at any gas station or grocery store & are great for road trips.

As a man who grew up in Ireland, but has lived in several other countries now. The world of sausages is actually amazing the way different cultures make their sausages can be completely different to our Irish ones. Generally we make sausages for breakfast. It most likely would be a simple pork sausage extremely tasty, crumbly and texture. However, other cultures have many different types of sausages that can be absolutely amazing in the UK they have many different types very similar in the style of the Irish and the French, so Irish people like those types of sausages however, the Germans have many types of sausage and they take it really seriously, many of them would rider have a good sausage over a steak? Crazy I know who wants sausage over steak. The Portuguese have some beautiful ones and the Italians they make many cute sausages and meats. So yes, people should brighten the horizons. There are even different ways of cooking sausages not everything is done in a frying pan on the grill. Some sausages are even boiled. You have black and white putting in Ireland people think of it as pudding and not a sausages, but it is the sausage. God I haven’t been home in decades I miss black and white pudding. If an Irish person reads this make themselves a breakfast roll with some simple, pork sausages, black and white pudding, and the other fixtures. I’ll live vicariously through you.

I would never refer to a pepperette as a, 'sausage', lol. That's like calling beef jerky, steak. Pepperette, the quintessential garage junk food, right up there with Twinkies.

Nope, the pepperoni in Trailer Park Boys is Brothers/Chris Brothers pepperoni (was one family company split in to two over a family feud), much thicker, sold in full coils, with a very smoky taste. Unique to the Maritimes, and either broken off and eaten straight out of the fridge or sliced and fried until crisp as a bar food

I'm Canadian and can tell you that most people in my area who do buy these are people on the road like truckers and such, you rarely see these being eaten in a usual household even if it is a snack

Turkey isn't dry if it's prepared properly. Brine it for a couple days first. Use a free hand with the brine as far as flavoring it. Herbs, peppercorns, some fruit juice, some Koser salt, I've used apple juice and orange juice, and chicken broth. How much you'll need depends on the size of your pot. It needs to hold the turkey submerged, as well as ice if it's too big to go in the refrigerator.

In answer to your question about when you’d eat Pepperettes, I worked on a team once where every Friday we’d have a team meeting and someone would bring snacks. One of the favourite offerings was pepperettes cut in small pieces (maybe 2-3 cm) and mixed with chunks of cheddar cheese about the same size. They’re totally snackable but I wouldn’t eat them by themselves the way you did. They need to be mixed with something. P.S. I’ve eaten Irish sausages (in Ireland) and they are very good, especially for a full Irish breakfast!

This video kind of sucked because they just got the overly processed name brand garbage. They need to get in touch with people who actually hunt Moose, Deer and Caribou to make them some authentic "Canadian" pepperettes.

As a western Canadian truck driver, I have lived on all brands of processed sausages. Here in Alberta, most of the short distance, heavy haul truckers (rig movers for the oil patch) love the Mundare sausage (from Ukrainian recipes), but personally I find them as bad as these ones. I did love these, but a Polish-Canadian buddy took me to Old World Meats and Deli, in Calgary. As I stood in line to get to the meat counter, I realise this was going to be good as I seemed to be the only one not speaking Polish! When I got to the counter, and got to see what they had, I was gobsmacked. The variety they make and smoke is awesome! Their "pepperettes", kabanos, are very mild in taste, perfect for dipping in mustard, and now I really don't like the "pepperettes" much at all. But here's the thing, ALL processed sausages are totally laced with chemicals to keep them from going bad. Those sausages aren't even usually sold out of cooler, but on the shelf with the jerky. All those delicious Polish sausages, roladas, etc. ruined me for all the processed ones, but they CAN'T be sold as easily as those crappy "pepperettes". Here in Canada, we can make awesome sausage, but you gotta go to the smaller shops for the best!

latest discovery at local grocery chain: turkey sausages with cranberry sauce. Thanksgiving is coming. the regular ones, not the dried. I'm in Calgary, Canada. we have a local store called Spolumbos, and they make all kinds of sausages- pork, chicken and turkey. they even make decent bangers.

Maybe the reason why turkey is always so dry is actually because we only have it once a year. Since we cook with chicken/beef/etc all the time, we know how to prepare it correctly. Most people just don’t bother learning how to cook a whole turkey to only have it once a year. Side note: my dad smokes his turkey and it is never dry and tastes great.
