Thanks, Vickey! It's a bit of a hectic piece to play, but fits perfectly in DADGAD!

I definitely hear echoes of Coppers and Brass, by Dick Gaughan.

I've always thought that people who can sustain that level of technical guitar work (of which celtic has to be the most extreme?) must have the type of hands that could crush a coconut with their little fingers. can you do that? :D amazing work without a doubt!
@hassanh45127 жыл бұрын
That's not really the case. As far as I know, the idea is to keep the hands relaxed and free as much as possible and to play without any tension (which would inhibit the dexterity of the hand, making it slow down). (Celtic really is not the most technical guitar work out there, by the way!)

DADGAD thanks.

Brilliant Stephen....my advise (for what it's worth) is slow it down a little...and you'll be able to get in more traditional feeling into the melody...Still fantastic stuff...

Can someone explain how is this double picking (ttr tr) notes done? I know about thumb technique, but can't see that he is using it?
@StephenWakeGuitar8 жыл бұрын
Hello John! I play the triplet with the middle/index/thumb for every string except the first. For the first I use ring finger/middle/index in that order.

Thank you. Nice playing!

I can barely hear the bass strings :( Is it the matter od the guitar or the recording?

Great Scott that sounds incredible! Need to save up some money to buy your stuff. Quick question. I learned a song in DADGAD about 30 years and I've recorded what I can remember through muscle memory but cannot remember the song title to find tablature or just give me peace of mind :). I've managed to upload the recording (audio only) it's only 28 seconds. After hearing your playing and the songs you chose I thought you might recognize it. I've been trying other youtubers specializing in Celtic guitar. Anyway thanks for your time; I subscribed and look forward to going through your videos. Rushing. This is music, not typing.

You honestly think 105bpm is "rushing" for an Irish Reel? 😂
