You may be thinking of "City Lights" by Bill Anderson from Georgia. This song was first recorded by Ray Price and the steel player was probably Buddy Emmons. There is a story about this song. It brought Bill to Nashville and he has had a wonderful career in the music business. Ray's band leader hired a new steel player which was a dream job for this young man. He was looking forward in meeting his boss. In walks Ray and he didn't even stop to welcome him as the newest member of the band, completely ignored.

Beautiful music. Too bad I have to minimize it because of the video effects, they make it almost unwatchable. (Of course that's just my opinion.)
