I appreciate the patience of all 3 of you…as the “fans” were asking ridiculous questions for a result that’s literally once in a life time. Never in 30yrs of watching ND did I ever see ND allow 4 QBs play in the game.

Its happened a couple of times. NMSt, USF a few years ago...maybe a few more.

11:30 Tim you can glaze Riley all you want and I really hope you had the same opinion about Brandon Wimbush as you do with Riley. Brandon was 13-3 as a starter and was bench for Ian Book. Both Riley and Wimbush are two of the same.
@guildguitars6349Ай бұрын
You’re right that Riley played well today, but only relating to his abilities. Riley does not see the field well, he does not throw well, and against a team that can stop the run, Riley and the ND offense will struggle to move the ball. Steve has some things to work on, but if having to choose between Steve’s deficiencies and Riley’s, I would go with Steve’s all day long.

The punter is struggling tho

Leonard every game has not seen WIDE OPEN receivers & te’s. Has to change fast !!!

Unlike the fanbase, the coaches, most of the media and Notre Dame KZbin channels are enamored with Riley Leonard. What happens if we play a team that completely shuts down our running game and we have to throw the ball?

3 opinions. Feels good to win but it makes the NIU performance even more puzzling. I think Riley Leonard missing Spring Practice is a bigger factor than thought. The Australian punter is the biggest specialist disappointment since Kevin Kopka. Go Irish.

If I am Marcus Freeman, I do two things tomorrow. 1. Begin to develop the QB’s better! 2. Find a good athlete on the team that could average more than 36 yards per punt!!!! Geez! I had a better average in high school!

And this kid we have kicking the ball for us is supposed to be really good too

It seems we are stuck with our version of Tim Tebow in Riley Leonard (sigh) well if that's the case then I hope we get the same results FLA did with Tebow.
@guildguitars6349Ай бұрын
The differences are that Tebow could get the ball downfield at least a little, and Tebow was 245lbs and could better absorb the hits from being primarily a runner. If ND sticks with Leonard, which I suspect they will, a few things will happen: he will eventually get hurt, the better defenses will key in on stopping the run, and the better teams with a good offense and defense will beat ND.
@StoicBehavioRАй бұрын
From a _"faith"_ persona stand point, sure. From a player on the field standpoint, more like a poor man version of Brandon Wimbush. Wimbush could actually throw it deep.
@evanharnettАй бұрын
True Tebow could runover people. Riley has decent arm strength to throw deep but 1. He can't read the field to find him and 2. He has no accuracy. Now i don't feel reasured anymore.

If BK were coach RL would have been in the game until the middle of the 4th.

After Georgia squeaked by Kentucky, a game Kentucky should have won, Notre Dame could certainly beat Georgia.

Angelli does not move well. He was like a deer in headlights on those 3 sacks.He's not the savior.
@guildguitars6349Ай бұрын
It’s easy to teach a guy to throw the ball away, but if a guy can’t throw the ball at all, you aren’t going to teach that in one season. It’s not that Angeli doesn’t move well, because he did have that big run on the quarterback draw. His problem is he occasionally holds onto the ball too long. He simply needs to either tuck it and run, or throw it away if nothing is open downfield.
@evanharnettАй бұрын
Do you think the team should develop a 2 QB game plan like FLA did with Tim Tebow? Every thing we've seen is plain. RL is not a passer but we're stuck with him. Freeman won't make any change. He hopes RL learns to read a defense and operate a passing offense with on the job training. Its clear they don't Angeli can surpass Leonard as a "dynamic player" despite being an accurate passer and running an offense.
@NDTD-je8wlАй бұрын
A couple of things. Angeli is not the runner that Riley is, but he did have a 29-yard run against Purdue and a 17-yard run against Oregon State in his only start. At least Steve is stepping up in the Pocket, Leonard is in his fourth year starting in college and while he is a good runner, he has had bad footwork in the pocket. Lasty, Steve has one start and limited opportunities. Of course, he will make mistakes. The key is whether he learned from them or not. No one is calling him a Savior, but he's not the guy who lost to Northern Illinois.

A good analysis, and some slick recall and comparative historical analytics. 1 The questions about what should be done about the QB options are irrelevant based on what happened TODAY. As you guys ably responded, what else should have been done? Is nuking a dead horse actually needed? Lets see if todays' mastery can be replicated (maybe not 66 to 7, but): a responsible, mastering of the opponnent's defense by management, and intelligent misdirection and exploitation. The coaching staff needs to do the best it thinks it can with whatever QB scheme they think does that. Flexible, that's what we're looking for, and having Leonard in the stable helps, and his accuracy is likely to improve, even if we don't need it to. _Whatever_ those three guys on the sideline think they ought to do as a group is likely to be far better informed and effective than outsiders or the 20-20-hindsight of armchair-backseat-driver-second-guessing members of our assorted mixed-nut and peanut galleries. 2 It does seem that there is a bit more of an adversarial relationship with the Football Office from inquiries you have had to make from a media standpoint about the long pass, the health related dearth of detailed/accurate information, and the like - but that isn't likely to be intentional on your part other than where it is your _job_ - but I imagine Bothelo-related information will find its way to you as slow as you might imagine. Whatever it is, I agree that you not knowing by now, is not a good indicator. Good to hear that the other two may be back this season. 3 @AbelGaming24 and others are right though, the punting still looks like a bit of an adventure. That might bear some examination as to what may be expected down the calendar as there are some teams (Louisville, GT, USC) that will be ready for us, and we are going to want whatever few yards we might find anywhere, against them. 4 I'm a big fan of you guys, and Wojcak. Just like a QB, or a coach, nobody in any media is perfect, but being as informed as possible and with extensive experience what _does_ tend to happen is the analysis is sharper, more penetrating, and delivers the occasional epiphany and conceptual revelation that allows for those less-well informed to perhaps get a step-up on our own understandings of what is happening in the CFB world as it relates to ND. 5 PS: To the guy (and you) discussing how Georgia is not beatable by this team; Did you SEE Georgia's game this evening against Kentucky? Kentucky, the team destroyed by S. Carolina ---S. Carolina, the team that lost to Brian Kelly's LSU in the final minute? - LSU the team that lost to USC by a touchdown ? Smart was sweating the last bead of sweat off his butt to win by a singular point, after trailing much of the game, trying to suck up every last second in the final minutes before fighting off a hail mary, to beat Kentucky 13 to 12. A scoring behemoth? Nope. A game of inches, field goals, and defense. You don't think that is a game we are competitive in? Even the ND score in the NIU game beat THAT. I'm not saying it is likely, as we are unlikely to make the playoffs, but wisdom to me is - never say never. You owe it to yourself to watch that Georgia-Kentucky game. Someone in the football office already has and made annotations and shorthands for the analytics guy for if it ever does become a possibility. I suspect if today's game Irish played today's game Georgia, the results would _not_ be a lock. Go Irish!🍀🍀🍀
