SMU had 6 turnovers against Duke. And somehow won. ND's defense can easily mess with them if Duke can force that many TOs.

Things to consider with hosting Indiana vs SMU would be travel and weather. Indiana fans will travel better than SMU fans will and Indiana will be unaffected by weather, while SMU will be somewhat affected (not like Miami, Bama, Georgia, etc..) but Texas and Indiana are quite different in December. I'd prefer to host SMU.

I haven't seen enough of Indiana and SMU to know which would be an easier match-up against ND. But ND is used to playing against slower, physical Big 10 teams. SMU, if they are fast, and given ND's unfamiliarity with them, might present a bigger challenge. ND's big advantage on defense this year has been their speed vs slower opponents. ND hasn't really faced a top to bottom speedy team, if SMU is that.
