This expensive piece of junk is so damn useless!! It only worked for like 2 weeks and then this started happening. It’s only 2 months old and didn’t really been a useful thing like it supposed to be! Sooooo disappointing! UUGGHGHHHHH!!

same here, hit the bumper like 25 times and hit clean and it should start working again. I opened it up and stuffed some stuff inbetween the bumper to make it harder for it to depress, so far its worked good I get error 31 every now and then. Better than every second

@@KatieMeg I stuffed some cardboard in between the plastic bumper and sensor, Right don’t really recommend it, because it does slam into your furniture really hard because it doesn’t really know anything is there, but ever since I got my replacement robot I’ve never had the error pop up once

ERROR 31: error 31 means that something in your roomba is not working properly (basically a internal communication error)

It's a known problem. Some people have had to go through four replacements. Most people are just waiting for the next Roomba to be released so they can leave the s9 behind

The problem with error 31 is bad solder on the mother board and/or bumper board. Solder looks “cold” which could’ve been result of incorrect temperature or simply old or expired solder paste.. it’s actually very easy fix, if you have skills and experience soldering SMD components... It took me maybe few hours and this problem is now 100% solved.. just don’t use hot air or reflow oven, many components on the boards, especially wire connectors will melt..

@@danielkuzmenko2997 they are all different.. I would check and re-solder everything on both, main and bumper board. It will save you a lot of time assembling and disassembling it..

Tengo desde noviembre 2021 dos Roombas s9+ una de Ellas acaba de presentar ese error de Comunicación pero ahora con el número 47 😤 he llamado y tengo que enviar la roomba para su revisión 😖pagando yo los costos de envío

Misery loves company. Having the same problem. Way out of warranty. They've agreed to send a replacement WHEN THEY HAVE STOCK!! What junk. Never buying a roomba again. I can vacuum my place faster by hand than I can spend time debugging this crap.

You know you forgot to fix the caster.I think that’s the name it’s a small wheel that lets the robot go anywhere.

Error 31 is usually a PCB error there is some issue with the PCBs

My robot did that error 31 three weeks ago. Dead when starting. Called them up and did the master reset for the umpthten time with the tech and no luck. Then she said my robot is out of warranty since I’ve had it 1 year 11 months and they couldn’t do anything. I told her a $1200 vacuum should not be dead in less then two years and it’s dead because your engineers did a software update to it that corrupted the brain. I told her I wasn’t happy at all with iRobot and I’ll never buy a product from them again if they die in two years. She put me on hold for a couple seconds and came back on and said they are going to send a new replacement to me as for being a customer. Just the vacuum and to keep my own brushes, filter and battery and send the dead robot back to them with NO battery. I just had to pay for the shipping. Received the replacement but it was the whole set up, brushes, filter, base, charging cable and the battery. Sent the dead robot back along with the base and extras and I called back again telling them they sent a new robot but it also has a battery and the directions in the emails and techs on the phone said to NOT send the battery back to them, so the tech said to keep the new battery and then I’ll have a back up. I wonder how many robots they had to replace because of that update they did that killed them.

Mine is going through this BS as well, and is WAY out of warranty. I've spent hours on the phone with them; finally they agreed to send me a replacement....BUT are out of STOCK! I used to love Roombas....now they are complete crap. Waiting for a call back that I will never get.

Same thing after only 3 months They sent me a replacement and that got an error 30 right out of the box, I’ve taken the dust bin out, wiped everything and still throws error 30. Now I have 2 useless robots, they’ve offered a repair but it’s unacceptable to have a robot bad out of the box Hoping they would send a 2nd replacement that works
