Thanx Chad! Greatly appreciate the editing feedback! I don't think you'll be disappointed if you go with IB. I had no issues with the fitment; all the holes lined up perfectly and I feel the quality is 2nd to none. Thanks for watchin' my friend!

Nice update and testimonial to Iron Baltic's products, sorry to hear you have peyronie's disease in 2 of your bolts, most people wouldn't check and they could have snapped off over time. Happy Turkey Day to you Q and family. Cheers and stay safe. Pete

Thanks for the update on those. I want to get a set at some point & was going to go with the metal ones. Was afraid the plastic ones would get cracked, etc. Guess the plastic ones do hold up though.
@quaddingsous
@quaddingsous 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I hear ya on the big decision Kyle. I deliberated long and hard on Aluminum vs Plastic too. One of the reasons I went with plastic is that there is way less friction on plastic than on aluminum. Another pro for plastic is that it doesn't bend. Aluminum will dent and bend. When you "unbend" it, you create a weak point in the metal, which will allow it to bend easier again the next time you bounce over a bolder or log. I talked to a lot of guys with both skid plates and the consensus was to go with plastic. Even Iron Baltic steered me toward plastic, advising they were actually better despite being less expensive. I'm not worried about these things cracking/breaking at all. They are very very strong. One of my neighbor's is a plastic fabricator and he looked at them when I first got them. He named the type of plastic it was (which I can not recall because it had a long scientific name - lol) and said it's almost bullet proof. Not sure if this info helps makes your decision easier or more difficult, but good luck with whatever you decide and thanx for watchin'!

@@quaddingsous yes, I will be going with plastic now I think. Didn't know they were cheaper though. Thought they were the same price. Haven't looked at them for over a year though. Thanks for the review & input.

Great review Q! They defintely do protect. I really hem'd and haw'd on either these or the OEM Can-Am ones and I've decided to stick with OEM. They just fit really well. The bolts are sunked down level with the plate or the bolt head is rounded so the don't catch on obstacles and bend. Also far less bolts to deal with If removal is required. Looking forward to seeing some of your riding adventures this past summer! Cheers!

Yeah, if you consider what the underbody would have looked like, or what would likely have occurred driving the way you did, through what you did without the skid plates, vs with the skid plates, it would likely give you a pretty good idea of how well they worked.

Great vid Q. In the 500 miles I have on my IB Aluminum Plates, I've been very happy with them. They definitely hold some dirt, leaves, etc. but are well worth the cleanouts! VERY bummed to hear we are not going to see any videos from your trip! Unusable footage is the WORST!

@@quaddingsous I bought a skid plate from Yamaha for my 2012 Grizzly. There weren't any washers and the bolts were countersunk. I've order an Iron Baltic for a new 2024 Grizzly 700 and it's a bit disappointing to hear that these aren't countersunk. So much for sliding over rocks
@quaddingsous
@quaddingsous 6 ай бұрын
@@randomity655 . . . The washers are a counter sunk style, rounded on the edges so the bolt heads are actually sunk into the washers. I haven't had any issues yet, but the idea you gave me was to use a forsner bit in a router to drill out the plastic to make counter sink holes, then regular flat washers with the bolts. Gotta do some measuring first though. Wanna make sure I don't have to take too much plastic off.

I was glad to see ya uploaded a video this morning, I needed something to watch while I cook breakfast for the family haha man I really love those Iron Baltic skids, they look really rugged and thick.
