Much respect to the skill of these fighters in ww2. They didn't have the technology to just lock on to targets like today's fighter jets. They had to practice, and master strategies of getting behind and in front of the enemy by diving down, or pulling up, and diving in again. They were skilled fighters on a level that even today's fighter pilots wouldn't match if they were using the same type of aircraft.

@@bulgariainsight429In terms of human experience, incorrect. Siege of Stalingrad, was indeed probably the worst human catastrophe, in the history of the human race, but when it gets to this level, there is no difference, in personal experienc. The British and other allied pilots, E.g. Polish and Commonwealth, fighting in this battle,, thought that this was the last chance, for the future of humankind, with any level of decency and particularly, for their generation they thought losing meant certain death. That's the same experience, for all intents and purposes, than Stalingrad population, except that it was much colder in Stalingrad, if yo were still alive, When winter came round As for bravery, Trey Harp is right, not only were fighter pilots, the bravest people in the war, as the technology was still unreliable and had only been around for 30 years, with any Reliability "at all" to speak of, but to make matters even worse, most British pilots had to train "off-the-cuff." because Brits had not been mobilising, for 7 years, Like Germany had..

@@Rowlph8888 "Worst catastrophe in all of human history" really? Worse than the Mongols wiping out whole civilizations? Worse than plague killing half of Europe? Worse than small pox killing 97% of everyone in North and South America? Lots of people like you think "The most recent bad thing" is always thew worst event in history. Stalingrad wasn't even the worst battle in WWII. They were several Eastern Front battles with 1 million + casualties on both sides. I do agree after a certain level you can't really compare suffering. But that is also why Stalingrad can't be the worst. It's just an equal on the list of worsts. I don't think the battle of Britain is on the list. Zero question if I'd rather be in London or Stalingrad or any of the other places. I pick London. "Boo hoo they had rationing and 20k out of 8.6 million people died." Those are pretty good odds.

Aces High was about the Battle of Britain in 1940, the Red Tails weren't in the European war in Italy until around 1943/44.......lol.

Me 262 had a 50mm auto cannon. I'm not certain what size hole they made. I don't think many planes were hit by 50mm and made it back. So not as much documentation.

Great video, although I doubt Mustangs had that kind of success rate against the 262 in the air. Most 262s were downed as they were landing or already on the ground, not high up in aerial combat.
