An interesting point about Maiden to cover would be to examine Adrian's and Dave's choice of playing power chords with two vs. three notes. It seems that both Dave and Adrian favored two notes in the '80s, whereas these days, Dave seems to use three notes all the time. Also, Adrian's pick holding technique in the '80s was so unique. I could never quite replicate the way he extends his pinky, ring, and middle finger straight and parallel to the pick guard. He looked so cool playing like that, that it was a big part of the reason I took up the guitar for a lifetime.

i' ve always said that from "The number of the beast" to "Seventh son of a seventh son" is their golden era, where "Powerslave" and "Somewhere in time" represent their absolute peak ! :)

How spoiled we were in 1984 to receive this great gift of music. I still remember seeing the vinyl copy of Powerslave on the wall of the record store for the first time, picking it up, feeling the textured album cover and just being blown away. That was nothing compared to listening to it for the first time, though! This is a fantastic song on a masterpiece of an album. I always love it when you remove the original guitars. I know it’s extra work, but wow, this turned out good! Nicely done, Nico! I’ve already given it two listens. You and Sara continue to improve the camera shot quality and have really got your filming area just perfect these days. Great lighting, great background, etc…. and you can easily change the background just a little bit to suit what you’re doing in a particular video. Cheers!

I know exactly what you mean - so much so that I remember distinct instances in which I listened to this album for the first few times with the insert in hand, reading the lyrics and looking at the images. I remember how certain parts of the songs impacted me initially... They are clear and absolutely indelible memories that I will forever cherish 😊 And I'm glad you enjoy these covers without the original guitars because it is definitely more work to get them to sound good - mainly because I suck at mixing/producing 😅😅

One of the darkest and most unique sounding Maiden songs imo. Steve's arangement is insane on this one, same as your playing Niko!
@kntzounis6 ай бұрын
Iron Maiden they said, easy to play they said, 3 chords up and down they said and that's it. So you go from 2:00 of this video to 3:10 and you come up with one question "How on earth they came up with this?" and you understand why other established musicians look up to them as the pioneers...

Powerslave is the peak of Maiden greatness, bookended by Piece of Mind, where Maiden defined their artistic style and SSoaSS, which features some of Maidens most experimental music. Flash of the Blade is my favourite song on Powerslave. Arguably the greatest album in the history of Metal music, Powerslave is pure perfection from Aces High to Rime of the Ancient Mariner.

The middle section harmony section I've seen played slightly differently. But Niko you sound bang on hear which based on all your other videos I trust your version to be correct as Dave and Adrian played it. Would love a bit of a brake down on that section it's one of the greatest maiden instrumental parts, with no real solo in the traditional maiden form.
@LicksOfTheBeast6 ай бұрын
This section is very confusing because of all the layering and it's not the typical Adrian Right/Dave Left panning. I'm pretty sure I have most of it down after listening very carefully countless times and trying to isolate parts as much as possible, but there could still be something I missed as well...

I saw an interview with Bruce during Covid when he said they'd had so much fun recording Senjutsu, that they booked studio time to record another album (as something to do),,,and then realised they needed to calm down - so it wasn't done. Personally think they should have done it if they had that much enthusiasm for it and released it years later

Well, they do have *some* short tracks on the post-2000 albums - like Stratego and Future Past on the last album. 🙂 But yeah, it would be cool for sure if they had a few more short and to the point bangers for the next one. I don't think that's very likely to be the case as that doesn't seem to be the headspace they're in these days. Especially Steve. 😅 Ultimately, whatever keeps them excited enough to record new music and go on tour to support it is fine by me!
