One of the few modern era bands I really like is Coheed and Cambria.. i got introduced to them opening for Maiden in 2012.. Which just happened to be my sons 1st concert and his favorite band.. Maiden that is

Have you heard the new heavy metal band "Riot City"? They capture the 80s sound and style PERFECT and their songs are great too! Their new album has a real face melter of a vocalist. Listen to them!

you look at something like rush working man live in cleveland time machine tour or maiden en vivo live 2011 years of practice and playing in small clubs, different clubs, stadiums. they can play. no autotuning or lip syncing or drum syncing just pure musicianship. not sure many kids want to do this they just want to be famous and rich, these guys wanted to be musicians.

Mustaine is also a much better writer.. Much of the early days good Metallica is Mustaines work.
