This song changed my life. I was fourteen when Brave new world came out: I didn't speak english, and I used to like songs that I'm ashamed even to remember. I'm italian, and Italy at that time was much of a closed country: I knew nothing about the world, art, music. I was a total idiot, a waste of meat. Then, one sunny day, I walked in front of a music store, and I saw that CD. Of course, I knew nothing about Iron Maiden. Still, there was something... I would like it to be epic, but... fuck: I wanted to learn something to impress a metal girl I met at school. I was desperate, and I never got the girl, but when I had the disc in my stereo the magic happened: The wicker man. Bruce drilled through my brain, and I CHANGED. I was and I am and idiot (english people cry blood when I speak their language and I am a poor slave with no future) BUT that was one of the most important moments of my life. It gave me curiosity, made me more of a man than an animal. Iron Maiden will never know how thankful I am, but I am sure many people were pulled from the darkness by their music, and that will make them immortal. It will pay the fuel for their huge plane too.

I saw them in 2001 in Chile when Bruce and Adrian had just rejoined the band and the concert, specially the beginning, was epic. Later on, I moved to the US and saw them in Fort Lauderdale : I was missing the Chilean crowds but still enjoyed the concert. It’s not Iron Maiden’s fault that American crowds act like unexpressive robots. Lol 😂 Up the Irons!
