Reminds me of how these lyrics struck me when I was living on the other side of the world, chasing my business dream, with only my son by my side, who was just 4 years old at the time. It's fascinating how certain songs can resonate so deeply, reflecting our experiences at different moments in our lives. Now, back in my native country, these lyrics vividly transport me back to those times, in a very profound way.

I like how everyone is pointing out the fact that it's playback but fail to understand that this is what Countdown and multiple other music shows back then were doing on regular basis. It wasn't Maiden's fault, nor their call, but something the production and/or the people behind Countdown had decided beforehand. There is another playback Maiden show on youtube where you can see Bruce taking the absolute piss out of their performance because of playback. Regardless, up the irons!

They had to do that. Imagine the time it takes to set up for a live show, then do sound checks, trying to get the sound right for the room which is a TV studio not designed for live shows, vs just performing to a playback. All for one song. Also the TV show does not want to risk a train wreck performance or a singer going out on a rant.
@peterkos1034
@peterkos1034 4 жыл бұрын
That was on a show in Germany and the band members decided to really screw around the playback. At one point while wasted years is being played nicko decided to get up to the microphones and sing while Bruce is behind the drum kit its a real pisser if you watch it in full. Funniest piss take on a public TV broad cast. It's found in the doco by iron maiden 12 wasted years.

Eu tinha acabado de nascer nesse ano, me parece que foi a melhor epoca do Iron Maiden, todos estavam jovens e inspirados.

There is quite a few sincere and honestly devoted artists as those one the Iron Maiden group Their wonderful leader is brilliant he lives his own life through his interpretation and thowards public on stage Bruce is someone who gives him entirely with no limits and is also enigmatic and magnetic at the same time

One of the greatest Iron Maiden songs from the greatest Iron Maiden album. Some may disagree but I believe Caught Somewhere In Time was their best album.

From the coast of gold, across the seven seas I'm traveling on, far and wide But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but someone else I close my eyes, and think of home Another city goes by, in the night Ain't it funny how it is, you never miss it til it's gone away And my heart is lying there and will be til my dying day So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years Face up, make your stand And realize you're living in the golden years Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind Can't ease this pain, so easily When you can't find the words to say, it's hard to make it through another day And it makes me want to cry, and throw my hands up to the sky So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years Face up, make your stand And realize you're living in the golden years

When I first heard Maiden back in the day they sounded heavy af. Now they just seem like a party band. But man this was a killer track, Adrian Smith really did his work here on BVs and a great solo.
