I like how everyone is pointing out the fact that it's playback but fail to understand that this is what Countdown and multiple other music shows back then were doing on regular basis. It wasn't Maiden's fault, nor their call, but something the production and/or the people behind Countdown had decided beforehand. There is another playback Maiden show on youtube where you can see Bruce taking the absolute piss out of their performance because of playback. Regardless, up the irons!

They had to do that. Imagine the time it takes to set up for a live show, then do sound checks, trying to get the sound right for the room which is a TV studio not designed for live shows, vs just performing to a playback. All for one song. Also the TV show does not want to risk a train wreck performance or a singer going out on a rant.
@peterkos10344 жыл бұрын
That was on a show in Germany and the band members decided to really screw around the playback. At one point while wasted years is being played nicko decided to get up to the microphones and sing while Bruce is behind the drum kit its a real pisser if you watch it in full. Funniest piss take on a public TV broad cast. It's found in the doco by iron maiden 12 wasted years.

From the coast of gold, across the seven seas I'm traveling on, far and wide But now it seems, I'm just a stranger to myself And all the things I sometimes do, it isn't me but someone else I close my eyes, and think of home Another city goes by, in the night Ain't it funny how it is, you never miss it til it's gone away And my heart is lying there and will be til my dying day So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years Face up, make your stand And realize you're living in the golden years Too much time on my hands, I got you on my mind Can't ease this pain, so easily When you can't find the words to say, it's hard to make it through another day And it makes me want to cry, and throw my hands up to the sky So understand Don't waste your time always searching for those wasted years Face up, make your stand And realize you're living in the golden years
