7:11 “That guy doesn’t look shocked.” That guy (Justin Hammer) is a weapons developer and this (as he quickly came to realize) is a weapons demonstration. Hammer would be no more shocked by this than McDonald’s would be shocked if you showed them a new type of burger.

So this Hugh Hefner guy was Stan Lee the creator of the superheros. He is in every marvel movie with a cameo. You have to find him in every movie😉

I do find it funny, though, that even when a reactor is new to Marvel movies (MCU and pre-MCU) and doesn't even recognize Stan Lee, his cameo _always_ manages to make it into the reaction video; Even his brief moments on camera leaves an impression of some sort.

O don't start her on that thing. I get mad everytime I see a Marvel movie and people O LOOk there's Stan Lee I love him, and like the movie before they said they never read comic books don't know much about super heroes and could not for the life of themselves pick out who Stan Lee was before someone else told em he is the creator of most marvel things.

10:00 The other guy is a lookalike who is to take his place as the dead body for the investigators of the explosion to find in the wreckage from the bomb. He is there voluntarily, probably to save a family member, but Vanko beats him up a little extra both to render him unconscious (so he won’t suffer as much when the bomb kills him) and to make forensic reconstruction of his face look even more like Vanko, or at least less like non-Vanko.

ok..to clear somethings up.. 1. when the army told Rhodey to weaponize the suit Rhodey took, they didnt call the competition..Hammer is the leading weapons supplier of the army, since Stark Industries backed away from making weapons.. 2. when Rhodey took all the weapons Hammer present, he did it because he didn't get impress with a single one weapon..so he need everything as a compensation..if tony still making weapons, he would impress the army with a single weapon that is capable of multiple purpose or damage (like The Jericho Missile from the 1st Iron Man).. nice reaction..

Tony doesn't make hard landings with the suit. It is a superhero landing pose. Most all other reactors spot and give credit and acknowledge to Stan Lee for his role in the Marvel universe.

I love how stacked the cast is for Iron Man 2 and most people just overlook it. Sam Rockwell, Don Cheadle, RDJ, Gwyneth Paltrow, Scar Jo, Mickey Rourke, Jon Favreau, Leslie Bibb, Kate Mara, Sam Jackson, Clark Gregg, Garry Shandling and so many more. A great way to introduce some of the greats in a superhero movie.

Since you mentioned reading the comics, the plot of this movie is loosely, mm, inspired by the Demon In A Bottle storyline, where Tony succumbs to alcoholism for a little while and Rhodey takes over as Iron Man, before Tony is far along enough in recovery to reclaim the mantle. Then Rhodey gets his own suit and takes the name he gets here: War Machine.
@Caseytify

I was always disappointed that they didn't explore his alcoholism in the movies. RDJs own life experience could have informed his performance.

Okay, you mentioned Iron Man 3... It's not next in the play order. Next up would be Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, and then the first Avengers movie; This closes "Phase 1". The credits scene in Incredible Hulk implies that it follows Iron Man 2, but there are two time references in The Avengers that would put it between Iron Man 1 & 2, while Thor begins during Iron Man 2 and ends about the same time. Captain America occurs well before all of the others, but the ending lands just prior to The Avengers and the credits scene is basically a trailer/preview rather than an actual stand-alone scene. Phase 2 begins with Iron Man 3.

Expos are like conventions. Conventions are where there is a topic, like video games or comic books, and people who are really fans or interested go for 3-4 days of exhibitions, samples or demos, artist and writers panel, merchandise related to the topic, and so on. Expos are much the same, but more geared for audiences who are curious but not knowledgeable. So there are more simpler demonstrations amd less in depth panels.

Yes, that is the same reporter, Christine Eberhart, played by the same actress. With two major exceptions and Stan Lee cameos, each of the characters in the MCU movies is played by the same actor in each movie they appear in. Exception 1 is Don Cheadle replacing Terrence Howard as Rhodey. There was a salary dispute with Howard and he was simply let go.

If you get that outfit you have to show us, you could pull it off waaaaaaaay better than I could lol. The Arc reactor worked exactly as it was designed to, it's just that the side effects are toxic which is why he needed a different element. It wasn't a laser that he made, it was a particle accelerator, like a mini CERN which is how he was able to artificially create a new element.

Scarlett is Black Widow . . . . it's mentioned very quickly by Fury in the diner. There were two very big cameos here, the guy Tony called Lary -- Lary King -- was the great Stan Lee who appears in all the movies. Keep an eye out! The other was Elon Musk himself. Though Iron Man has been around for years , some think of Musk as a modern Tony Stark. Keep on watching, love your reactions.

It's interesting going back and watching these Phase 1 movies because even though they're still entertaining, they're noticeably much lower quality than what is to come in Phases 2 and 3. It isn't until the first Avengers movie that the true potential of what the MCU could be is finally realised, and with one or two exceptions, everything gets much, much better from that movie onwards (although Phase 4 has taken a step backwards quality-wise. It's mostly ok, but Phases 2 and 3 are where the real good stuff is).

Yes, that's the same journalist. It's also the woman he slept with at the beginning of Iron Man. She's also the victim of a running gag; in the first movie Tony says he was "doing a piece" for Vanity Fair. In this one they refer "a big spread" the magazine did on Tony. The bad guy is Whiplash, who wore a very ghey purple spandex outfit in the comics that looked more like a B&D suit. Rourke is a better villain. To my mind they mis-wrote Happy Hogan's character. In the comics he had been an accomplished boxer before being hired by Stark as a bodyguard. I feel they played him for a fool in comparison to Natalie, and yes, you'll find out more about her soon. :) Two things to remember: Stan Lee always has a cameo in every MCU movie, and there's always at least one mid or after credits scene in each movie. Usually a tease about the next movie. In this case, Thor. You should really watch the Marvel short A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thor's Hammer. It should be on KZbin. It's about an incident Agent Coulson had on the trip down to New Mexico. Two Fun Facts: first, that's the same expo site we see in the Captain America movie, and second, remember the kid that was almost killed by a Hammer 'bot? A theory became very popular among the fans that that was Peter Parker as a child, something the producers loved so much they retconned it into canon.

Hey, Little Fish! The second Iron Man entry is a total blast that ups the ante of the first film by having Tony ride high on the celebrity of his public declaration as well as suffer privately from deadly blood poisoning caused by his arc reactor, create a new element as well as a new suit, contend with a vengeful technical genius as well as a corporate antagonist and engage in a colossal three-way armored battle for the climax! The Hammer-Vanko storyline is clearly a tribute to one of Iron Man's signature arcs -- "Armor Wars" -- wherein Tony has to shut down every operation that's appropriated stolen StarkTech including SHIELD! This is also the only film to touch on Tony's alcoholism which should have been the subject of a whole movie as it is CENTRAL to the character. The legendary "Demon in a Bottle" arc has Tony hit rock bottom and turn over his Iron Man duties to James Rhodes which would have been some great material for both Robert Downey, Jr. and Don Cheadle as the new 'Rhodey' replacing Terrence Howard. The film boasts an incredible cast with RDJ portraying Tony Stark in full manic mode as a man keenly aware of his imminent mortality yet in simultaneous aggressive denial. He is supported by a nakedly envious Sam Rockwell as Justin Hammer, a menacingly bemused Mickey Rourke as Ivan Vanko aka Whiplash, a lusciously lethal Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow and an earnest, exasperated Don Cheadle as Lt. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes aka War Machine. Garry Shandling even shows up in a small role he reprises elsewhere in the MCU as Senator Stern. The "His Girl Friday"-like romantic banter between Tony and Gwyneth Paltrow's Virginia 'Pepper' Potts remains a comic highlight with Clark Gregg's Agent Phil Coulson serving as a great straight man. I also really like John Slattery's contribution as elder Howard Stark who looms so large in Tony's life. Slattery's portrayal in Stark's promotional recordings is a hybrid of a young Howard Hughes and a middle-aged Walt Disney. Of course, director Jon Favreau as Harold 'Happy' Hogan and Paul Bettany as JARVIS return. Perpetually p***ed-off Sam Jackson as Col. Nick Fury swings by to drop some dark Stark legacy in Tony's lap as well as drop a hint of Asgardian doings in the Southwest. Leslie Bibb returns as journalist Christine Everhart as does Tim Guinee as USAF Major Allen. Kate Mara has a bit part as a process server and Elon Musk appears as himself! TRIVIA: 1. Natasha's belt buckle carries her sigil which is the red angular hourglass shape that is found on the actual backs of black widow spiders. 2. The events of "Iron Man 2", "The Incredible Hulk" and "Thor" all occur during one week in MCU-time called Fury's Big Week! EASTER EGGS: 1. The half-finished, star-spangled convex object Tony uses to balance his makeshift particle accelerator is a prototype of Captain America's shield! 2. While Tony reads his psych evaluation by Natasha, one of the holo-screens shows a field reporter covering the aftermath of Hulk's Culver University rampage indicating that Hulk's adventure is still in progress while Tony has just completed his which places "Iron Man 2" earlier in the chronology than "Incredible Hulk". 3. Tony's status as a SHIELD consultant sets up the One-Shot "The Consultant" which accompanies "Incredible Hulk" recontextualizing its barroom end-credit scene with Ross. 4. The kid in the Iron Man helmet Tony saves from the drone at the Expo is a pre-Spider-Man Peter Parker! CAMEO: 1. Stan Lee shows up as Larry King complete with suspenders as Tony descends the escalator from the opening Stark Expo! END-CREDIT SCENE: 1. The end-credit scene is actually an excerpt from "Thor" which shows Coulson arriving in New Mexico at the crater made by the impact of Thor's fallen hammer, Mjolnir. The next chronological stop in the MCU is a featurette called a One-Shot that occurs at the end of "Iron Man 2" prior to the end-credit scene which is actually a clip from "Thor". "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor's Hammer" serves as a little prelude to "Thor" as Coulson travels to New Mexico and stumbles onto some unexpected action. It is found on the "Captain America: The First Avenger" blu-ray and DPlus. Occurring concurrently, the next film to see is "The Incredible Hulk" although it's advisable to see the non-canon, proto-MCU "Hulk" film from 2003 by Ang Lee first if you have no knowledge of the character.

Why can't the other cars do that? I believe the speed they were going in compared to what Happy was driving, was extremely faster, and due to that amounts of speed, them seeing danger on the road made the brake extremely fast, which caused them to explode 😅

You don't need to read the comics if you don't enjoy that for of story telling, but if you haven't tried them as an adult... give it a shot. They aren't for me, but they a very valid and interesting form of storytelling through art and small amount of text. As far as the enjoyment of the movies though... I don't think it is necessary at all. If you do though, you can see where they might be going and know a character before it shows up here... but they are not constrained to be the exact same story as the comics.

Couple things... 1 - Sam Rockwell is a fantastic, charismatic, interesting actor. One of my favorites. I think it was a mistake to make his character here a less competent Tony Stark. I think he'd've been much more interesting if he was actually capable, formidable... AND... not sure if I can address the "and" without at least getting spoiler-adjacent, so I'll just stop here. I just think he'd've been a more interesting, compelling character if he was much more talented. 2 - Fuck Elon Musk, that guy sucks 3 - I'm not a big fan of how the first movie, and then this one, treated that journalist Tony slept with (played by Leslie Bibb); I'm not sure why the movie thinks so little of her. Because she had casual sex with Tony? Tony also has casual sex with people, so whether you look down your nose at casual sex, or you have a problem with her choice in partners... either way, seems like Tony comes off shitty too. Why is the movie judgemental at all? That's so weird to me.

Elon rocks! He single handedly saved the US Space Industry, reducing each launch by 99%! He creates more Electric vehicles then the rest of the competition "combined"! He created well paying jobs for over 100 thousand people around the world. He officially paid the highest amount of taxes in one year then anyone else on the planet. (And the government spent it in a few hours. We don't have a tax problem. We have a spending problem.) While I don't agree with the war in Ukraine, or continuing the fighting, Elon used his space satellite network to give them internet access, when it was completely cut off. (Most of that was by their own government, threatening the citizens to not do any streaming of the war. They also imprisoned all the political opposition... something like Germany did in the WWII era.) I'm guessing you are a bit intimidated/jealous?
