Cameron Exactly. The final cut makes it look like he was already dead from the shock, and fell in the pool just to be more sure he was dead for good. That’s why him initially surviving it is a bit too far fetched, even for a comic book film. Glad it was cut. And the dialogue here is alright, but nothing too special.

The way that Tony looks at Obadiah as his old friend is struggling to escape the Iron Monger suit speaks volumes. He's so sad, hurt, and betrayed. He thought that if he could trust anyone, it would have been his father's friend and business partner. And the fact that he still tries to save him even after all of the terrible things Obadiah's done to him and others... Tony Stark has a heart. ❤

This scene would have been awesome. To the haters: Yeah, it's a long minute of nothing. That's why it should be trimmed down to 30 seconds. Show him fall on the beam. Show him try to get out. Show him reach for Tony. Show Tony hesitate and then grab. Show their exchange. Show Stane's betrayal and death. The pacing would work very well, just not how it is here. It needs to be trimmed a lot.

The death of Stane from the comics had way more weight than movies were able to show. This movie could've at least pay an homage to the comics by making him commit suicide after the realization that he can't win in a physical fight. Spider-Man did have an iconic scene from the comics where Goblin stabs himself. So why this movie couldn't have this?

L Disney was not involved with this film. Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America were all distributed by Paramount. While Disney did buy Marvel Studios in December 2009, Disney couldn't actually be involved in anything until the six film contract with Paramount ended. They ended up purchasing duel distribution rights for Avengers and Iron Man 3 in October 2010.

I wish this scene stayed in. It would've circled back to how Obadiah bragged to a dying Tony about how the Iron Monger Suit wasn't "conservative" in its design. Only for the design to be the cause of his death in front of the man he tried to kill.

Everyone is saying how Tony was trying to save Obadiah but if you think about it over Obadiah was trying to pull Tony down with him.

He was trying to pull tony down with him thats why tony kind of detaches his arm and stane falls to his doom. But that doesn't mean he didn't try to save him.

@@epicfan1598 Obadiah was stuck in his own suit. He tried to get out but when he failed it’s like he wanted to be dead along with Tony.

All that effort of trying to kill tony, and all for what, the company, even if he killed tony in the iron monger, he’d have a crap ton of witnesses around him, I guess he’d fly to a far away place and ditch the suit. idk.

Personally this scene would've been great because it shows that tony stark isn't a cold asshole all the time I mean c'mon he saved his the villain until the villain himself tried to do I'm not going down by myself besides its owned by Disney of course they're gonna have the good guy save the bad guy and give him/her a second chance until the bad guy ruins it and dies in the end

Disney bought Marvel after Iron Man came out. Officially, the first "Disney" Marvel movie was the Avengers.

+Slimshadow457 really if Disney bought ironman after the movie came out there would've been a reboot of the movie and Robert Downey Jr. wouldn't be the iron man

+Slimshadow457 plus if Disney bought marvel how is it that fox owns X-men Let me put this in terms you might understand Sony bought spider-man then Disney paid more to own spider-man see Disney can't buy the whole marvel company they can only own a small portion of it which is why ironman is owned by Disney which is also why you see a new actor to play spider-man Sony still has some rights to all the other spider-man movies
@Slimshadow457

miguel ortega Okay, first off, stop taking me for an idiot. I know Fox owns Marvel. I know Sony owns (and still owns Spider-Man). I'm pretty sure basically anyone who knows anything about Marvel movies at this point knows it. Let me put this in terms YOU might understand. Back in the 90s, hard as it might be to believe, Marvel was going bankrupt. Comics weren't selling AT ALL. So, when Sony and Fox approached Marvel to make films of their properties, they said yes! So Fox got X-Men, Sony got Spider-Man. THEN, in 2007, Marvel having gotten enough money from having sold their other properties, THEY GOT "MARVEL STUDIOS", their own movie studio owned by them, where they were free to use their characters not owned by other brands. They partnered up with *Paramount Studios* to release their movies; which, at the start, were IRON MAN and HULK. Do you understand that? Marvel was then bought by Disney, IN 2009! But guess what? The deal didn't go into action on every front at once! It's not like one day Marvel were still Marvel, and the next BOOM Disney owned them and had put stickers on all their comics and put banners on all their films. Since Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger were already in production at the time Disney bought Marvel, Disney let Marvel Studios finish their movies, BUT Disney provided the funding and basically helped make "The Avengers", making the Avengers the first ACTUAL movie made under Disney. If you look closely, if you still buy DVDs or Blu Rays or whatever of Thor, Iron Man 1 and 2, and Cap, you will see a "PARAMOUNT STUDIOS" at the beginning, because it is still distributed through Paramount, NOT Disney. If you look before The Avengers, there is no "Paramount" logo, it's just "Marvel Studios". Disney aren't paying more money to own Spider-Man or anything, wtf do you think the industry is? Monopoly? Spider-Man was acquired through a complicated deal with Sony which implies Sony has financial benefits from all properties Spider-Man appears in, and still has to distribute and retain all gains from Spider-Man solo films. However, Marvel is now allowed to USE Spider-Man in their films, and they get to make some decisions as to how the future Solo Spidey films are made, including the decisions to add OTHER Marvel Studios-owned characters. Money isn't a problem for Disney or anything, they have CONTRACTS which make it basically impossible for Marvel to buy back their share of characters. If they could, Marvel would buy back Fox-owned characters, but the fact of the matter is they can't. In 3 year's time, however, the Fox-owned Fantastic Four will HAVE to have another movie, or else the rights go back to Marvel Studios. Finally, and this is just a general thing: Marvel movies ARE NOT Disney movies. Disney do not make Marvel movies, you don't see the Disney logo at the start of Marvel films, you will never see it. Disney FINANCIALLY owns Marvel, and they have a final say in what happens in the films (because they're the ones mainly producing/providing money for the films), but they leave Marvel 90% of control as to what happens in the films. And if you actually think Disney are always making cartoons and childish things, then grow the hell up and face the fact Disney are a multi billion dollar company that produces films you wouldn't believe are made by Disney. Disney owns TOUCHSTONE PICTURES. Guess what they helped Produce... Bridge of Spies, Lincoln, and The Village to name a few. Would you consider these kid films? Would you show a 5 year old The Village? I think not. Disney =/= Snow White and Bambi anymore.

+Slimshadow457 okay then Mr.Marvel know it all I already knew marvel ha their own studios but they still have other companies that own a small part of it like Netflix what I'm trying to say is if Disney bought iron man after the first movie came out they would've have to reboot the series
